Default Front driver side rotor grinded to ****! What's causing it?

I pulled into my apartment complex today, and felt/heard a grinding noise coming from the brakes. I got out and looked at the rotor and this is what I saw. What the hell could do this much damage? It was only that 1 rotor.

You have no pad left. Time for brakes.

I had a pad fail and the same thing happened, pad just ripped off the backing plate even though they had tons of life left. You need new pads and rotors.

If it is just that one side, and the pads and rotor are fine on the other side, i would say that you have a stuck/seized caliper piston or your slides on your bracket are seized up pretty well. If its just that one side like you say, you definatly have a caliper issue.....

Your pad has literally fallen out (as said above)... in your 2nd pic there is no pad in the bracket...!!!

(take note of the clip sitting in the bracket, the pad has a tang that fits into the clip.)

DO you have a pic showing the caliper.

^^^ and that also!, that doesnt just usually happen your piston has to be extended all the way out and the pads to the backing plate and some hard braking caused it to shift out WTF! havent seen that before, unless your wheel was not torqued right and it caused the rotor to wobble

Judging by all the brake dust and grime built-up, you don't look down very often, do you? Shame, shame...lol
