I would get the drag shocks and springs, my only other choice would be get the drag shocks and use stock springs. The drag springs have to be tightened up pretty damn tight.

I'm in a similar position friend. As far as I've read, the R series shocks can be run on the street with a carefully selected spring in front. The regular 12 ways are more for handling. I have the 12 ways now and they suck for drag racing. You can't adjust the rebound. So if you soften up the shocks, sure they flyup quick, but they come crashing down just as fast. I'm getting Stranges (similar to the R series). Good luck.

I ahven't been to the track yet with my front HALs, but I love what the rear ones did for launching. I worry about what John says tho. In the "old days" we ran dual valve 90/10 shocks up front. They came up quick, and went down slow. I thought that is what the racing shocks did...dual adjustment, 1 valve for release, & 1 for rebound. They were not avalable when I ordered mine. Sigh...

well, I'm running the HAL fdrag shocks w/ affco front shocks (dual adjustables) and strange eng. rear shocks. Pretty nice.. esp since the affco shocks are ride height adjustable and rebound/extension adjusted seperately... honestly, I'd feel confident w/ this combo on a road course and drag strip. The strange eng shocks are actually made for 3rd gen mustangs, but fit well, they are adjustable also.

you have to drill out the shock mounts, which was a PITA, other than that, I like them. I didn't put 'em on the rear for $$$ reasons... I might in the future though.
