have you talked about this to anyone with regards to your rear brakes on a 4th gen?

Keep in mind that the front/rear weight ration on a 4th gen is way more front heavy than a C6 Z06, which is why the rear brakes on a 4th gen aren't beefy.

If anything change the front brakes ONLY on your 4th gen unless you are willing to disengage your ABS and also get a brake proportioning valve and do manual adjustments until you get the front/rear brake ratio set the way you want to.

Not a good idea to even try and attempt... if for not other reason the solid axle and the fact the axles float around which will cause issues with hard fixed calipers like those PBR's.

I already installed them and drove the car around. Seems fine to me? Fronts will go on later this week.

Well, did you change the master cylinder? Because while you have 4 piston rears now you only had singles to start. If the hydraulics haven't been changed then you just aren't applying much force back there.

And pad knockback is a real thing and when the caliper can't move, but the axle can, it will cause the pistons to be pushed back into the bores under higher loads and give you a very long pedal. This is why you don't see other OEM cars with Brembo front brakes and a solid rear axle using them on the rear (Mustang).

I did mine over the summer. I have had no problems, car stops fine, hard stops are fine, and I still have abs brakes. I have no problems with hard cornering either.

I'm sure most people aren't going to notice it until they REALLY get on the brakes hard. Street driving doesn't count. When the rear engages hard enough, the brake hop will eventually occur. Especially for people who have a lot of "anti squat" modificaitons like short torque arm, relos in the lower hole, etc.

Just asking but if this was the case, why does Baer Brakes and Wildwood offer a 4 piston fixed caliper kit for the rear?

PewterSS - did you modify the factory backing plate to work with the e brake? i looked at it and doesnt seem to hard to make it work?

No didnt do anything to the master cylinder..jist installed the bracket and everything else and bled the brakes. i have noticed im getting a squeaking sound when cruising and sounds somewhat rough coming to a stop at Times. Everything seemed to have enough clearance.

Because people will pay for it even if they don't need it.

.

I did, I have the 4 channel abs and kore doesn't make a bracket for the 4 channel so I had to modify the backing plate to make it work.

You have to remove the rear diff cover and axles to put the brackets on...not that bad to do. I have the fronts on now as well which were easier to mount on.

I have to either machine the brackets or calipers as the pins are rubbing the inside of the rotors and wearing a groove on the rear because its not centered on the rotor.

Default holy thread revival, batman!

reviving old thread to add a quick question, because I may have a line on Z06 rear brakes for very cheap (depends on my mad negotiating skillz). Understanding that my car has:
  1. Moser bolt-in rear axles (Ford style) in a 8.5" 10 bolt + watts link
  2. A LS3 dropout being put in soon (tonight, if I get the time)
  3. serious weight reduction off the nose (estimating 450 pounds), which hopefully brings it close to 50:50 weight balance, front to rear
  4. 4th gen LS1 rear discs
  5. C6 Z51 front brakes + 6 pot Wilwood Calipers
would you do the swap? At what price would it become not worth the effort?

Quick Reply: c6 z06 rear brakes on 4th gen
