Bmr tubualar K member welds breaking?
I have a Bmr km003 K-member on my car. I started having problems with the alignment going way out lastnight and being toed in. Jacked it up this morning and noticed that the welds on the A-arm mounts have broken away on both sides of the driver side and started to also crack on the passenger side. Anyone else had this problem?

I responded back to your e-mail this morning, if you could please get me the information I talked about in the e-mail so I can look into what we need to do.

I hate that on these f-body k members the tabs are such a weak link by design. Always worries me with the crappy roads we have here in LA. BMR is standup so I'm sure they will back their stuff up.

Your second and third pics are how mine failed, only
mine was the older design without the added gusset.
Evidently the gusset does not suffice.
If you search you can find a pretty detailed writeup of
how I fixed mine. Shade tree style. Not pretty, but plenty
stout and no problems since.

Mild steel. I got a reply email back today saying they'll cover 20% of it even though they had to redesign it because of issues like mine where they have broke. I thought they'd treat it like a recall considering it could cause personal injury or death if breaking in certain scenarios.

Shouldn't have to worry about a bmr one breaking either. they're supposed to be a reputable company thats been around for years. One that honors a product and replaces it when the first design is faulty.

I know lol. It actually happened while I was backing up. Thank god I wasn't on an interstate on ramp or something. Defiantly could have turned out bad or been way worse.

The risk of any tubular K member is going to be there no matter what kind you get. Unless you get the beefed up slightly heavier version that UMI has. They can still break while daily driving.

Wow, 20% off, then you get get to try another. Is this a common resolution for this part? I would deal with these guys on the phone so they can state their case personally. Seems to me that giving you money off another new one is an admission that the part is faulty, but that they're not being very generous-at all! My first feeling is to shop elsewhere if I felt their offer is inadequate and state as much. If you wrangle more money off the new design maybe stick with them.

We redesigned our BMR k-members roughly 7-8 years ago and have not had issues with any BMR k-members breaking since the redesign was done. We also arguably have more k-members installed on cars that are daily driven than any other company out there right now so they are tested and tested regularly. We have been manufacturing the 4th gen k-members for over 12 years and have learned alot and made a few running changes in design and material through the years to provide the best possible k-member to the customers that we can. We are always looking for ways to improve our parts which is why these changes are made. If companies aren't looking to improve their products in any way they possibly can they are not doing you guys the customer any justice.
The k-member in question was built before the redesign so it is at least 7-8 years of age if not older and gone through who knows what kind of abuse. Another issue is that the OP is not the original purchaser of the k-member. These two things alone make it really hard for us to just straight up warranty the k-member. Even though the k-member is way beyond the warranty period and the OP is not the original purchaser we gave him some some option that we feel were very fair considering the circumstances.
