Default BMR tower brace issue (pic)

I'm sure I'm not the only one running this tower brace. So for the other ones that do, what did you do about the brace blocking the oil fill cap from being removed?

Does that tower brace angle in any direction by chance. If so could you just flip the whole thing around and end up with it angled slightly out of the way? If you catch my meaning that is.

I don't know what people with this brace do, but have you tried
rotating the filler neck piece to an angle that clears but still makes
oil "run downhill"?

Rotating the filler neck will break the lock tab an likely drop the broken plastic piece down into you engine. First you should remove the STB for easier access. You'll need to Remove the filler neck by using a metal pick tool to pry the tab away from where it contact valve cover, far enough so you can pull the neck out of the valve cover. Your other option is to remove the valve cover for easier access to the tab, or so you can just twist the neck really hard and break the tab off an let it fall the the garage floor. You'll then have the needed clearance, and install the cap directly to the valve cover.

On a lot of cars you can remove the filler neck and just put the cap directly on to the valve cover. I'm not sure if this works on ls motors, just a thought.

The tower brace only installs one way. There's no way to flip it around so it would angle away from the filler neck.

The filler neck does not rotate.

I don't the idea that a piece of plastic may fall into the head causing an even bigger pain. I may just have to keep taking off when it's oil change time. Just seems like a poor design.

I have the same stb and my cap still comes off fine even with the engine being an inch higher than stock beacuse of the solid engine mounts.

Are you sure about that? In the picture you posted, it appears that the tube is welded to the extreme edge of the mounting tab. If you were to switch it side for side, it might position the tube a little further back on the shock tower, and clear the oil fill cap....

In my experience the washers that come with it go under the brace mount on the studs of the strut to make a flat surface due to the factory sheet metal over lapping right there. May change the angle of the bar slighty to clear oil cap. Atleast thats made since when i installed mine.

I have the same one on my car. I just took the little neck thing off and put the cap right on the valve cover. I have fabricated ones now so it doesn't matter. Just take the bar off, take the filler neck out, separate the cap and filler, then just put the cap back on and don't use the filler.

You shouldn't have to mod the filler neck to fit a STB. This is the first time I've seen anyone with this issue. If you guys are modifying your filler necks for this STB, that indicates a design flaw. There are plenty of other options that are simply a bolt-on with nothing in the way and no other mods needed.

same here, if this were a common issue I would be getting calls about it regularly. Unless people are just assuming that's how it has to be and have dealt with it without contacting us.

You can "angle" the filler cap out with the brace there. I have the same brace on there and it will come out.
