Default getting my 4th gen to hookup

hi guys ive been wondering what i can do for my car to get it to hook up. its a 98 camaro with a 370cid ls1 and a junk t56... The car has never been dynoed so i dont know the numbers it makes but it has a 220/220 comp cam, 3 angle valve job, heads milled down, yellow behive valve springs, block was zero decked, 11.5 CR, forged steel shortblock, bored .020 over, fully balanced rotating assembly, full exhaust, 4.10 gears, proxes tq 285/50/16 stock rims, 200lbs weight reduction. i spin 1st 2nd right off.. im wasting so much power and i need to get it down the to road. if u guys could let me know some mods that would help me id be greatly appreciative. also what brand of torque arm should i go with and what angle? i see so many different numbers. i have a vid of the car 3rd and 4th just so u can see what im workin with. hooks good in 3rd and 4th.. (when its warm out)

What type of tire are you running? Where are you launching from? Do you do drive the car on the road?

These are some of the questions that we would need answered to get you in the correct torque arm. We want to make sure you get the right part the first time and are happy with the outcome. We build many different torque arms and crossmembers for every car. Give us a call or shoot us a pm and we can get you in the right arm at the right price.

getting a 6 speed car to hook on the street is difficult, especially with a radial tire. You are going to need alot more than just a torque arm. Lower control arms set at a more aggressive angle and shocks with proper valving and adjustability will make a world of difference. Also, manual trans cars tend to work better with a soft-wall tire. Radials tend to hit the suspension too hard and can unload the suspension quickly. Like you said, you are wasting alot of power now with wheelspin. There is no universal answer to making a car hook. What you need is a custom package put together for your needs. We can help put you together a package that will work for your setup

Why didn't you go wider on the rear tires? I'm running a 315/30 out back, and it hooks like a ****. Then again I'm not making as much power as you nor do I have such an aggressive gear.

Chris,
A taller sidewall with more give will outweigh a wider tire. Sidewall allows the tire to react and absorb some of the initial shock to the suspension which can help keep them from breaking loose. This is why we recommend a bias ply tire for manual trans cars as they shock the suspension much harder than an automatic.

Put a real tire on that car and your blow your ten bolt to pieces. Get a rear and some tires.
