Default Make shift bump stops

I saw in another thread about someone using generic bump stops for the rear. Well I found out that mine were also missing along with the brackets. So I couldn't even do it the way he said. I got to thinking and I had a trans mount for my 81 Z28 laying around. I cut off the stud and it bolted right up. I had to cut out the lip for it to work, but here are a couple of pics. Maybe now I won't hit the tires on bumps. But my worry is that these won't give enough, and it will be a rough ride. I will find out in a couple days if it works or not, in the middle of painting the calipers.

those look like mostly metal, you might need to go this route http://www.stranoparts.com/partdetai...D=20&ModelID=7

That's pretty cool. I never would have thought about using a trans mount.

That was my main worry. But I already had one sitting around and it was only 6.99 for another. So it was worth a try. In looking at the part you linked, I don't know if that would work for me. That part looks to only have the tabs to bolt them down. I am missing the bracket that the original bump stop bolts to. So I would need something like I used but without the metal on the sides.

I'd remove those and install a set of actual bump-stops Either the Prothane(11301) or Energy Suspension(9.9137) Jeep bump stops. Now if you want some metal to put between the BS and mount points I'd buy some steel 1/8" or 3/16" flat stock form your local home improvement store, then cut and drill a couple of pieces to use between the two.

I just put these on to see if it would help with the tire rub. I drove the car to work today with no issues. I hit a few bumps, and I didn't hear any tire rubbing. Nor did I hear any banging as the metal hitting the rear end. I will change them out in time, but I don't drive the car that much. It's a pain in the butt to jack up the car since it's lowered!

IMO, get some 2x4s or 2x8s and cut them to a 18" length(preferably) or at least 12" and pull you car up on them, this makes it a lot easier.
