Default Question about BMR lower A-arms and street driving

Hey guys I recently picked up a complete bmr k member with their lower a arms. Everything is from circa 2003. The k member is the older design which I am currently in the process of getting beefed up before I install it. Question is has there been any improvements to the a arm design since 2003-2004 that I should be aware about and perhaps not use these for street use? The car is a DD if they are safe great if not then I'll just resell them.

Now since the setup has been sitting for 8-9 years I want to go ahead and replace the ball joints as well as the rod ends in them. Does anyone know the thread size for the rod ends? Thinking about going with del sphere ends or roto joints to keep it quiet. Any recommendations? Also is the ball joing size the same as stock or?

Thanks Dan

All I know is tighten the hell out of the mounts. Aftermarket arms don't have the grip in the socket to hold their alignment setting like a stock bushing does. The alignment tech probably doesn't know this so I went back and tightened mine.

If you cut a few small serrations in the ends of the bushings, or rod end spacers, the alignment won't slip. It replicates the serrations in the factory bushing that help grab the metal. Torque to 90lbs and let her rip. Thats what I do on my car that sees lots of road course time, alignment has never slipped and I've had a few off track mishaps.

There are no issues with using our controls arms for street driving, even the older ones. We have not made many changes to them over the years.

The stock bushings have a raised sort of star pattern. Cutting would not replicate something that's raised.

We use ProForged balljoints specific to our arms. We only offer a rod end for the rear leg. For any replacement parts you can call us direct and we can get you set up with them

ok good I'll probably call for ball joints in the near future. I really dont want rod ends though, does anyone know if del sphere or rotojoints from umi will fit? I tried emailing them just waiting on a reply.

Just curious as to why you are opposed to the rod ends on the rear leg? Are yours worn out?

the ends have been sitting a long time and have a decent amount of rust on them so they dont articulate smoothly. My buddy runs tubular a arms on his up front with rod ends and I hear them every time I'm in his car even new they stil made noise. I understand that the will transmit a little more vibration but the noise drives me nuts hence why i wanted to go with roto

The roto style joints are much louder/harsher than even a poly bushing in my experience.
