BMR K-member broke!!
Like the post says, it broke!! The weld on the front bar that connects the front bar to the lower A-arm mounts on the driver side completely snapped. This is a $400+ piece thats crap now and I can't even drive my car. What should I do (other than get the problem fixed)????

That's the first time I've ever heard of that happening. How old is the unit? I'd contact BMR. I'm sure they'll take care of it. How did it snap...what were you doing when it happened?

It was installed 2/24/03, so it's about a year and a half old. The car is a daily that sees occassional strip time. It's too late to call them now, I have to wait until tomorrow to call them. I was parallel parking my car when I noticed a problem. As I was turning the wheel there was a "pop" that I felt in the steering wheel, followed by a high vibration and then a burning smell. I parked the car, got out and looked underneath to find my swaybar up against the bottom of my engine pulley. The burning smell was that of the swaybar burning the AC belt. I had the car flatbedded back home, thinks it was some kind of alignment problem. I pulled the car into the driveway just now to see what I could do with the swaybar. No sooner did I get underneath, I found the broken weld. And I came on here for help.

It's the second BMR K-member incident I've heard of... sorry to hear it happened to you. Get talking to BMR - I think they should send you a new one for free by overnight express, then send you some flowers, and maybe a basket of baked goods as well. It shouldn't break during parallel parking, for cripes sake
It's not like you were pulling a Dukes of Hazzard manuever. I wonder if they're ever going to design a thick walled tubing "Heavy Duty" K-member which can handle the extreme stresses brought by parking lot speeds

Call and ask for Brett if possible he is the owner and a good guy he will help you if at all possible. I don't know what he can do if anything at all but it is a good chance he can. Don't know?(BMR 813-986-9302).

Damn that sucks. That looked like it was the most sturdiest part of the K-member. I was always betting that the boxes that the control arm arm connected to, were going to buckle first. I keep looking at mine expecting to see it deformed.

Mitch, you should be a BMR "factory test pilot", they should have given you their crap to test (and now they'd have to, and you still wouldn't use it).

The PA K-Member seems to be a better piece.

In all fairness to Sniper's ability to "do his homework" on F-body mods, there weren't any negative reports on BMR's K-member back when he bought his. At least, none that I'm aware of.
