Question Front Stabilizer Bar Bracket

Own a 2001 Z28 (Sara) with aftermarket BMR swaybars front and back. My front stock R/H side bracket broke. Has anyone else had this problem on their vehicle?
Thanks in advance.

I have seen people have issues with them bending/breaking who AutoX and road race. I forgot where to find them, but someone does make a beefier/reinforced bracket.

blaine fab sells a GM bracket with a brace welded in....or you can get a bracket brace from UMI to weld in.....or buy new beefier aftermarket ones ( think UMI bracing on steroids ) from Detroit Speed

Thank you all for the replies as posted above I found the beefier mounts @ the "Detroit Speed" sight. This vehicle is a garage queen with only 50K original miles, never raced or auto x. Maybe the larger solid BMR bar was too much for the stock bracket to handle.

Stay well and GOD bless.

I do not know, I purchased the front and rear bar separately from BMR 17 years ago, I believe it was a solid front and rear bar, they both are extremely heavy.

I am attributing this bracket breaking to metal fatigue so consequently I am going to replace both brackets

Was this something that was easily found? Like did you hear popping or something felt weird? I auto-x and road race quite often and as far as I know my brackets are just fine. When UMI came out with the beef up plate, that was the first time I heard about this but it sounds like it may be pretty common.

Yes it was very easily found I was in for an oil change and was under the vehicle when I noticed that a brace was just hanging down off the sway bar cracked with the other half on the frame of the vehicle. Prior to that the vehicle felt a little unstable going around corners.

I had one break on the passenger side and replaced it with a OEM GM part. My car is old and parts break, they are not meant to last forever. I also had Poly bushings on for years when it broke. Poly does not give like rubber. I replaced both with MooG rubber bushings when I rebuilt my suspension. I had the maint. guy at work weld my broken one and have it as a spare.

Happens all the time, it’s a weak design.

I went ahead an ordered the Detroit Speed sway bar bracket kit # 031418, this should solve my problem. I too have poly bushings all over the front and rear. The Detroit Speed Engineering Tech told me they are 100% bolt on replacements that come with the attaching hardware, no fabrication, welding or praying needed. They installed them on both a 1998-2002 WS6 and Camaro Z28.

The Detroit Speed ones look nice and beefed up. May have to look into this and get a set. I am running Strano sway bars and I believe they came with poly bushings and with 315 tires up front mine are still holding up as far as I know. This may be a piece of mind thing to knock out though.

Hello everyone, had the Detroit Speed Brackets installed in Sara (2001 Z28) and as stated @ the Detroit Speed sight, "they ARE 100% bolt on with no modifications needed".

Sara and I are back driving down the highway of life together

GOD bless you all.
