Default Brakes not releasing

I did a brake pad swap for a friend this weekend and the brake pads were very tight to get on in the front. They do not release all the way either. The back went on very smooth. What do you guys think may be causing this. I used a c-clamp to open the pistons. I didn't drain any break fluid, would this cause it. They are the stock replacement pads according to my friend.

Also, the breaks were hard to get over the rotors on both the fronts, but not the rears.

I've seen speaks of the alignment pins seezing. Maybe this is it? I will be taking a look at these this Wed.

I've had seized calipers twice. Both times noticed when the new pads wouldn't mount because one of the guide pins wouldn't move.

After I compressed the pistons all the way with a c clamp and put the new "GM REPLACEMENT" pads in the caliper would not open far enough that it was easy for the caliper with the new pads in it to slip over. I had to force the caliper and brake pads over the disc. The problem is that the brakes are always tight on the front wheels. I.E. the wheel does not spin freely even if you are not compressing the brakes by pressing the brake peddle. I think it may be seezed guide pins as stated above. What are your thoughts.

That's my guess. I'd vernture that the slider pins are siezed.

Can they be freed with force or do you have to replace them.

Sometimes you can "hammer" them out and wire brush them off, re lube and install, other times, you need to replace the pins, seals and the pad abutment bracket (the metal "cage" that the pads drop into that covers the rotor).

The last one I replaced was on a Grand Am, and one PAB and a set of pins and seals was about $90 (per side). Your prices may vary.

Seems to me I paid ~$70 for a new caliper bracket and at least one new pin. If you want the real numbers I'll need to dig through my barrel of receipts
