Default HOT Parking Brake?

Ok this may seem like a dumb question but that is one of the great things about this website is that you can ask stupid questions and noone makes you feel stupid!!

Anyway, I just got back from driving my girlfriend home a round trip of 86 miles almost all highway at about 75-85 mph just cruising. On the way back I rested my hand on the parking brake (below the rubber part) for a moment and felt it was pretty hot! Not burn my hand hot but nonetheless surpsingly hot. This may be totally normal for any car (My last car did not have a hand brake parking brake so I dont know !) but I am paranoid about keeping my car in good condition!. Also it is an A4 and by the time I got back to my house it had cooled back down to normal

Thanks in advance!

put your mind at ease. I am sure it was just natural heating and cooling of the car. Especially since it's been hot the past coule of days. Don't worry about it. Was your car parke din the sun prior to your return trip when you felt this? coulda just been hot from that. dont worry about it.

no it was definetely from the drive home ( it was dark out so no sun) and like I said between getting off the highway and getting home which is about 4-5 miles it cooled down signifigantly, like I said probably totally normal just wanted to make sure my transmission wasn't going to explode or something horrible like that. Thanks guys!

Every car I've ever owned has had the trans tunnel get warm on long trips. Normal.
