Hugely common. No issues but must use rubber hose on top of the spring to prevent metal on metal rubbing. and it's about 1/2".

Pros, you can get the drop but keep a more comfortable
spring rate.
Cons, the spring is not so positively located, some folks
mention it popping around (haven't noticed this myself
after having gone back to stock-minus-spacer from the
Hotchkiss). You may have to replace the heater hose
periodically if you use cheesy thin ones. But I'd expect
years out of it.
I'd put the result at -3/4" (depending on fuel level), just
slightly higher than the Hotchkiss with stock isolator.
The Hotchkiss initial rate is advertised near stock but
I can feel a comfort difference and can see more height
variation with load, indicating that their actual-level rate
is well higher than stock once compressed to normal
ride height. But anyway....

I just put my stock rear springs back on without the isolators and the height is the same at the BMR's WITH the isolators (about 1" drop). I'm running bare metal and no issues so far but I may put the rubber back on because I need the height.

You cannot run bare metal. The spring will wear a hole into the body of the car. And you get more noise.

just to clarify, do you just slide it around the coils or cut it in 1/2 like a sheet and just place it on top? i would think you would just slide it around the top coil, but thats why im asking search only popped up with 4 results.
