Default Torque Arm?

Well, I'm about to get an aftermarket torque arm....I'm willing to spend the $$$, just wanna make sure and get a good one...Should I get one that mounts to the tranny, or not?

Thanks,

-Will

Are you going to modify the vehicle to drag racing better, or going towards AX, RR, or a daily driver that is improved for mostly handling?

Well, its a daily driver, that I drag race on occassion, but not too often...I'm not putting drag shocks or anything on it....Mainly plan on control arms, subframes, and a torqe arm for now....may put springs/shocks/struts on later...

Basically, I'd rather go for handling, as opposed to drag racing...though I do it on occassion

If it's handling you're going towards, do springs/shocks/stabiliser bars first. There is a lot of hype with improving handling by using torque arms, control arms, and SFC's.

I know that these are a lot of links with a lot of info, however it's been repeated, and rather than attempt to overstate placebo effects like many members do around here (not bad people, just statements with fallacies), I'd like to show you some facts. Your biggest improvment with handling will be noticeable with a proper set of shocks/springs/stabiliser bars. Eventually shall you desire a new T/A, Trailing Arms, and possibly SFC's, you could install them as well.

but if your heart is set on getting a torque arm first, get one that mounted at the transmission, since you're more focused for improved handling.

No problem. It actually didn't take too long, since they were a collection of links from around the site as a result from numerous searches over my time here as a member of this forum. Now as far as the information, that took much time to examine from several other experienced motorsport drivers, here and from other forums, and from my college senior projects.

I PM'd Sam Strano last night, hopefully I can get something worked out....I read up on almost all those threads, and realized I made a mistake lol...

I purchased a Pro-Kit and some Bilsteins when I first got the car (never put any of it on though)...Looks like I'll be selling all that now though, and going with the Koni's (if I can afford them, not a clue how much they cost)....

I know its a bass-ackward suspension route, but I would like to go with the Koni's, per the request of many...And I'll go with a tranny mount torque arm, subframes, and either BMR Tubular Control arms or Edelbrock Boxed control arms (I have a pair of both laying around lol)....

That is because I do still take the car to the 1/4 track occassionally, so I'm gonna attempt to go for a kinda "best of both worlds" approach, though I realize that I can't get optimum performance for either...but hopefully it'll be better than stock, in both forms

non tranny mounted is moregeared to drag racing. if its ur DD, then go with a tranny mounted adjustable like the spohn or umi ones...
