Default powder coating calipers

Hey has anyone taken about the caliper to get it coated? I am wanting to coat all of my calipers and I just got the ls1 front caliper upgrade so it will look great.

Just wondering how hard it will be to change out the seals and assemble the calipers myself.

I powder coated my calipers and brackets. You have to dis-assemble the caliper and then you have to rebuild them. I went ahead and bought a caliper rebuild kit, which you have to buy from the dealer! You can assemble the calipers yourself, the only thing that will give you hell, is getting the pistons back in.

I powder coat at home and wanted to do mine, but breaking down the parts coating them then rebuild them was too much of a pain in the *** for me so I just painted them. They look good. Unless you want a candy color then coating is the way to go.

Which caliper paint kit did you use?

I've had good luck with hi-temp engine enamel. Typical with paint, it's in the prep. I used brake cleaner- liberally, a steel or brass brush to make everything clean, then I used brake cleaner again, scrubbed again, brake cleaner, let dry and paint (spray). Sit back and enjoy.

That may be over kill but I had the time while I waited for other work to get done. I think there are more colors and such available with the engine enamel and it's still hi-temp stuff. I had a friend paint his with the brush and dedicated caliper paint but mine lasted longer. Like I said, it was probably in the prep though.
