Default Koni Sa

I ran across a deal for all four koni sa struts. They only have road coarse miles on them and not many laps at all. The treads are stripped so I will have to send them back to get replaced. My question is though will these struts change the stance of my car with stock shocks?
-Thanks Brandon

IMO buying used parts is ok on stuff that doesnt wear out. I'd be nervous to install something like used shocks on my car. Even if they are Konis. Especially since you have to purchase them damged. Who knows what else is damaged. New they are expensive but you get what you pay for. Just my 2cents...... Good luck.

Well I thought about that and what the guy said was if you ship the struts to koni they will rebuild them free of cost. I will just have to pay for shipping. Plus I auto-x with this guy so I dont think he take advantage of me. (I hope)

It's best to call Koni and tell them what you're doing, because from my experience, they're only lifetime guaranteed if you are the original consumer owner of them. AFA using them for motorsports is concerned, it probably depends.

If using stock springs you can opt for the lower spring perch bottom position rather than the slightly higher one and using the heater hose mod for the rear springs if desired, however if you are using lowering springs, you shouldn't use the lower setting.

You own a silver Firebird there lt1_man??? I was the guy standing there listening, and who said the parts that are stripped are a separate part from the shock itself. I own the white LS1 Camaro with the Forgeline wheels on it. Mike is one of my best friends.

I didn't ask Mike what he wanted for them, and I don't know if you discussed price with him or not. And it's not really my business, just laying that out there so you know where I'm coming from with the rest of the post. The shocks have some miles on them, around 50k I'd say having known the car all of it's autocrossing life (but they do work fine, I can personally vouch for that), except you can't install them without the "hat" being fixed.

They won't fix those shocks for free. Rusted nuts aren't covered under warranty, and the warranty only applies to the orignial owner (and the shocks were on that car before Mike owned it, so he's not even the original owner). You are looking at some repair costs. How much, I can't say and neither can Koni until they see them. Add some freight too. I'm sure Mike won't take you for a ride. However, you need to know that it's not going to be a cheap as you think.

I know its not going to be cheap I just dont have alot of money. Iam defintly going to buy the rims and tires from him I just dont know how much more money I have for the struts, so I was seeing if they are worth it or not. Sam how did you car run at autocross? Was that a corsa cat back system?

Well, being that the course SUCKED... I only made two runs (coned both because a Camaro with 315's ain't easy to get through). Ran a raw time of 49.8xx I think, then gave up and decided to take my other two runs in a friend's STS Honda to give him some input.

I would certainly buy Mike's wheels and tires. He won't screw you. And depending on the deal the shocks (not struts, this car doesn't have struts at either end despite the springs being on top of the front shock) might be worth it, or might not. That depends on what the price is, what the cost to fix is, and what they are worth to you. You have other options. New Koni's. Revalved Bilstein's being your best autox performance options. However, you might opt for other things based on seriousness, cost, whatever.

And my exhaust is a SLP Loudmouth with StainlessWorks long-tubes and Random Tech cats (part of the SW header system).

Yeah that course did pretty much suck. It was my first time taking out the formula and I did do to go with the tight corners like that. I dont know why I said struts still use to my mustang. lol. I looking to get into some open track event and still auto cross so what would my best setup be? If you dont mind me asking, plus this is still my daily driver so I cant have something to crazy.
