Was your rocker panel damaged like that before it broke or did the driveshaft do that?!?!

Dayum!! At least it's cool to say your car actually broke a driveshaft . They go for pretty cheap, so hopefully it's a cheap fix.

I didn't even know I had rocker damage? I've never lifted the car there, maybe it's just the way the pic is, I don't know. Or maybe the shaft did do that, there appears to be a 6 inch chunk of the DS that is completely missing. I had to be at 6000rpms when it let go, that piece probably landed a mile away. From a different angle, there is also red paint all over the ends of the DS.

I have a bolton a4 with a 218/218 563lift 114LSA cam. It peaked at 346hp with 3 cats(2 mac cats and 1 slp cat, I had problems passing emissions.), but made 340 from 5000 to the 6400rpm limit. I think the torque spike of the vig is what killed the DS. My little vig flashes to 4200 these days.

The driveshaft was the last thing I had ever expected to break with 3.23 gears and street tires. All of you drag racers really need to get loops. This was seriously the scariest moment I have ever had in a car.

The car is at Speed Inc right now, waiting for a heavy duty steel driveshaft. Thanks to Tom and Larry for putting up with me.

Thanks again for posting the pic bspz28.

Damn thats crazy Jim...I had to pay 350 to get my chromoly one...it can hold a **** load of HP, more than carbon fiber...I got a loop on it too...the bottom of my car is like a cage...I got the bottom of the loop as the cross member and it is welded to the SFC's....

Default broke my driveshaft

I floored it from a 30mph roll and BAM! Tons of metallic popping sounds and grinding. Sounded like massive backfires. I pull over and get out to look, and my stock aluminum driveshaft is cracked in half. Other than the shaft, there doesn't appear to be any damage. I don't have a loop either. I think the exhaust caught it and took most of the beating.

I have pics if someone would be so kind as to post or host them, because I have no idea how.

Thanks,
Jim

I busted my stock DS with only simple boltons(cutout, lid, and MAF ends). Busted my first night at the track with my nitrous. I launched on motor(555r's on stock 17's) and the DS broke immediately. Luckily I had a DS loop!
