The 16" drag radials will offer more bite, even with the smaller size, because it has a taller sidewall.

if you were going to put them on your ws6 wheel then you will want 275/40/17 nitto nt555r

if you had a different wheel they were going on, then you'd be better off with the smaller sizes (15 or 16) as they have more sidewall and seemingly provide better traction.

So, for my own personal reassurance, a 245/50/16 nitto drag radial will offer more traction than a 315/35/17 drag radial because it has more sidewall flex?? I have heard this is both true and false and would like to know once and for all, from experience, which offers more traction. Following that same thinking, would a 275/60/15 nitto offer even more traction than the above tires? Thanks

Basically, you answered your own question. I had 17 inch nitto's and sometimes had problems getting tractions after a H/C job. If you are mainly stock with lots of mods, you will be fine with the nitto's--good for street and stripe. Practice on launch and vary air pressure for takeoff. Happy Motoring. <img border="0" alt="[Burnout]" title="" src="graemlins/burnout.gif" />

I would start with 20 and work my way down to 15 until I found the sweet spot for maximum traction.

I can tell you from experiance that 17 inch will not hook well if at all. They are very good tires but if you really want to hook smaller the better.
I ended going to slicks so I could hook up.
