Default Re: wolfe racecraft

I just installed my 6 point bolt-in 2 weeks ago. The fit was PERFECT . The only problems were from my never having installed one before (have built/welded them in before in other cars…non F-body…..but never this…..). Looking back I wish I had got the weld in.... .....I went with the bolt in because I didn't want to have to "take the entire car apart"....little did I know I would have to take everything out to drill and bolt it in .

One thing I’m not really happy with is the swing outs. They work and are made wonderfully but they add more noise (rattle) when driving and I could have done without spending almost $200 more for added noise.

Thanks for your response....

Can you get the roll cage without the swing outs? I would almost prefer no swing outs for the added strength of the cage itself.

Default wolfe racecraft

does anybody here have any experience with the wolfe racecraft roll cages? i would like to purchase the 4 point weld in cage and then fabricate a rear section myself as I don't like the way the rear bars fit (i would like to model mine after the ones on the cover car of the new gm high tech mag if youve seen it).

if anybody has purchased a 4 or 6 point cage, please let me know how it fit as I am going to make a purchase soon.....

if you have any pics of your install that would be great as well!

also, i have a question regarding roll cage requirements......what ET do you have to be running in order for this to be a requirement. do you need a 6 point cage or is a 4 point ok?

thanks in advance,
conrad

If your talking about how the rear bars dont go through the speaker grills im with you on that one, I like having rear speakers.

BTW:In order for you to need a cage you have to run 11.99 or quicker in NHRA and I think an 11.5 for IHRA. Both require a 6 point.

yeah.....you can get it without the swing outs (they are an added option). If you get the "basic" bar, it comes without them.

About the back bars going through the speakers.....that is the "old" way. They have another option (does not cost anything to substitute) that has the bars mount on the flat area behind the seats (I went with this). Look under the "weld in bar" section (install pics).

Chris

edit: The pic is actually under the roll cage section but the back bars are the same. Here is a link to the pic:

Thanks again guys...

I feel that their might be a way of adding strength to the chassis with a different rear bar desing...I would have to sacrifice a little luggage capacity but there's a nitrous bottle in the back anyway so who cares.... I feel that if the bars span a little further to the rear of the car, the chassis will flex less (if a few supports are added...still trying to finalize my design....). Since I never carry anything in the back of my car anyway, I want to fabricate my own rear bars (I'm finally starting to apply the things I learn in college as a junior engineering major to my car).

If anybody else has any input, please let me know what you think about these cages...
