Default Z51 brake ?

are the calipers on the c6 z51 brake setup different then the c6 zo6 calipers? are they different than the standard c6 calipers?
what is the size difference of the rotors between the three brake kits?
can you use the LG brackets that are used to mount c5 calipers on f-bodies to mount c6 calipers on a 99 camaro?

i would like to swap my front brakes to the c6 z51 setup and ive been able to find the oem z51 rotors but no z51 calipers.

im pretty sure the only difference is that the z51 has drilled rotors, the c6 z06 is a 6-pot caliper and much larger.

The C5/C6 "base" brakes are the same calipers and 12.8" rotors, but the C6 version seems to be a heavier duty rotor with thicker "cheeks" on it (the friction surfaces are thicker, the overall thickness is the same, but the veins in the center are a bit thinner and the cheeks are thicker on the new rotors).

The C6 Z51 package uses the same calipers but a 13.6" rotor (and one of them is vented backwards, just like the C6 Z06...GM was too cheap to make left and right castings for the rotors???). You can install the C6 Z51 brakes using trackbrackets or the UMI kit. It will not fit with the LG kit without modifications and I'm not sure if there is enough material on that bracket for those mods to be done safely (I'm not saying there isn't, just that I don't know and it's something you should consider). You'll need the Z51 rotors, the Z51 specific PAB's and the calipers and brake hoses and the conversion kit.

The C6 Z06 kit uses a 14" rotor and the 6 piston calipers. Those can also be converted with the Trackbrackets kit or the UMI kit, but you'll need the calipers, brake pads, rotors and brake hoses.

If u do the Z51 conversion, will it fit ZR1 17" wheels.I have been wondering too cause I really dont want to buy 18" wheels.!3.6 rotors on a 17" will look cool.I work at a GM dealership I can get at cost.

As far as I know, the calipers are the same and use the same diameter pistons. That was the best information I could get on them when I was looking them up.

The braided lines you have now will probably be too short. That's why we typically recommend that you use the C5 hoses when you do the C5 upgrade in the front, you don't want to stretch the hoses when you fully turn the wheel. The Z51 are even larger in diameter (the rotors) and the caliper will be moved even farther out so they have an even greater risk of stretching a stock length hose.

The conversion brackets from trackbrackets or UMI are just the brackets. The PAB is the "Pad Abutment Bracket", it's the "frame" that you place the pads into when you do a brake job, but the C5 and Z51 are both different from each other and different from the F-body PAB. You'll need the one for the brakes you want to use.

You'd then need calipers, hoses, rotors and the PAB's to go with the conversion bracket (and the slider pins, hardware, bolts to hold the caliper on, anti rattle clips, etc).

That I don't know. I'm going to guess (but just a guess) that they won't clear the 17's.
