Default T/A used w/ True Duals?

Just curious about what kind of Torque Arms people are using with true duals. Do you have to buy a relocation kit?

I've used an LG torque arm, and soon to go on will be an adjustable, full-length UMI torque arm (full length = transmission mounted). What do you mean by relocation kit? The upper panhard brace relocation kit? A transmission cross member with a torque arm relocation on it?

UMI makes a relocation kit that takes the front of a stock, full-length torque arm off the transmission and onto the body. It looks pretty nice, but a little expensive. Is that what you are talking about? They told me it should work with true duals (a long time ago), but I don't have it.

Hello,

Our adjustable transmission mounted torque arm is designed to clear with most true dual systems as well as add addtional clearance over the stock torque arm. We can't guarantee this on custom set-ups but we have never had a issue and always have great results. The picture below shows this torque arm installed with the TSP True Dual set-up, it allows us to tuck the exhaust system up 1" closer then the stock arm would. If you click on the link below more information and pictures can be seen. If you have any questions please ask. Thanks! Ryan

So what does the relocation kit do? I mean, if the transmission-mounted torque arm fits true duals, what is the purpose of the relocation kit? Is it worth the money?

I think if you read the ad in the link it will answer all your questions. The relocation kit has nothing to do with true duals.

Hope that helps,

Glad to help everyone

We recommend the torque arm relocation kit with the vehicle is running 10.50's and faster in the 1/4. Anything slower then that is usually fine.

Thanks!

You don't have to relocate the torque arm for true duals, it seems everyone is getting very confused here. The relocation kit allows you to remove the torque arm off the transmission to prevent tail shaft failure and has nothing to do with any exhaust system.

Hope that helps,
Ryan

Spohn's torque arm come sith the relocation bracket for 360 bucks, but maybe I'm missing something here. I sent them a message, so we'll see.

That would be what we call a tunnel or chassis mounted torque arm. They are a complete different set-up and will not work with a true dual set-up.

Only if you need it, not everyone needs it like they think. A lot depends on what you are doing with the car and your plans. Your best and least expensive route is the tunnel mounted torque arm, however the downfall is they will not clear with true dual systems.. that is why I have recommended the torque arm above.

Thanks,
Ryan

Well give me your opinion... 9"/spool, M6, 500+whp for now (possible in the 650 range in the future w/ nitrous if I choose to do so). What do I need to go with?

With true duals you need the stock length torque arm and most likely the relocation kit. I'm assuming you have true duals if you are in this thread.

That's what I thought Matt. I think I'll go ahead and grab the relocation kit w/ their Christmas deal going on right now, I can't quite swing both at the same time though.

I think I've been swayed to UMI after seeing how much they are on here helping out customers. I don't see BMR or Spohn on here doing the same thing.

I have the Stealth Toque Arm. It has solid mounts and connects to a modified transmission support manual.
