Default c5 and c6 calipers

are there any difference (non Z06)? The c6 calpers look bigger than the c5.

You might try going over to the Corvette forum and try calling or emailing some of the Corvette suppliers. You can get a pretty good deal on ebay on used C5 calipers if you follow it closely. If you go with C5 calipers and rotors you will add at least 30lbs to the front of you f-body and more with C6.

There is no difference between the two, as far as I know they are inter-changable.

how much stopping distance are you really loseing by putting the C5 ZO6 calipers on Eradspeeds stock replacements onto an '02 camaro. is it really noticable or even worth mentioning. i like the look of them better adn i dont have the time to paint my stockers and they'll never look as good. sorry for the highjack

The piston size of the C5 calipers are smaller and therefore will provide less force area to push the brake pads against the rotor. In terms of distance increase, it might be anywhere from a 1-10 feet and will give you a larger bias in the rear. If you want to go to the C5 caliper, the larger rotor is required for better stopping power.

You would be better off having someone powder coat your stock calipers.

More like 2-3 pounds. The C5 rotor only weighs 18 pounds, not 27 as you posted in a different thread. And yes, I weighed it myself. The calipers and brackets are similar in weight.

C6 brakes bolt right up to a C5, even the Z06 brakes. The caliper mounts are the same on both cars. The base front rotor for the C6 is the same dimensions as the C5, but have thicker disc faces at the expense of a more narrow vent channel. The Z51 brake option on the C6 uses 13.6" rotors in place of the 12.8" base rotor. The calipers are identical for for C5 and both C6 brake systems. The only difference is the pad abutment bracket for the Z51 option. Rear brakes on both cars are the same. The C6 Z06 system uses the six piston front and four piston rear calipers with 14" rotors, but they will also bolt right up to the C5.

Actually the C6 Z51 uses a 13.0inch rotor in place of the 12 on a stock C6/C5 in the back. With a C5 adapter bracket you can run C5/C6 size rotors or C6 Z51 rotors. I dont know about the backs, but the fronts will bolt right on for a fbody.

The base C5-C6 rotor is 12.8'' NOT 12'' & the Z51 rotor is bigger then 13''.

I was talking about the back. I know the C5/C6 uses a 12.8 front and a C6 Z51 is 13.4 front.
