Default UMI 3 point subframes

Ok folks, tell me some more about these and how you like/dislike them. Im looking to get more power to the ground and stiffen up the ride a bit.

I plan on going with the bolt in set up as I can always weld it in later. Are there any drawbacks to bolting it in comapred to welding it?

I recently got them...I've only driven the car around the block with them though (horrible weather). But they are amazing quality, and I could honestly tell a big difference with them on, in the limited driving I have done with them. I don't know how to explain it, but the car felt heavier and more stable.

I have the bolt ins and they creak on the rear mount when taking off or sometimes going over bumps. I plan to have them welded in in the spring to eliminate this problem. Other than that I have no complaints. They tuck awesomely, fit great and keep the car from twisting over the lousy roads in Michigan along with uneven rail road crossings.

I actually do not have them (yet), but like the design better than most due to the good ground clearance, and the fact that they grab both sides of the LCA pocket. In fact, I sold my SLP SFCs intending to get the UMIs.

UMI quality is great, they support the forum, and customer service is outstanding!

Check out this thread if you haven't already. It shows UMIs unquestioned customer service!

I can attest to the customer service as well. Got a drive shaft loop/tunnel brace to go with the 3pts and it hit on my stock Y pipe. I contacted UMI and they said that fitment with a stock Y pipe is hit or miss. Some fit and some don't. They said it would work with an aftermarket Y pipe but if I wasn't planning on getting one soon they would take it back. I was issued a return number and they even sent a UPS call tag to pick it up from my house! I just need to save up more money to buy the rest of my chassis stuff from them.

How much do these 3-point subframe connectors weigh? (How about the 2-point as well...) I'm sure Ryan from UMI can answer this pretty quick!

they're pretty hefty ... guessing 40ish pounds for the pair

but I'll be damned if they're not worth the extra weight

Yea i put the UMI 3 point SFC on my car and i love them. I wouldn't have gone any other way. They tuck up very nicely and i didn't lose any ground clearance with them that i've been able to notice anyway. My car is lowered so ground clearance was an issue. Mine are the weld ins.

Thanks Ryan! Those 3-point SFC's are pretty substantial (weight-wise) but I guess if they wern't, they wouldn' be quite as effective. The good thing is, the weight is probably in the best possibly location to add weight to your car if you're going to - It's at the lowest point on the chassis, and probably lowers the center-of-gravity a bit too, but that's probably negligible. Have you ever made a set out of chromoly tubing? For the amount of tubing, I'd guess you could save 5-10lbs.

Glad to help. Mathmatically Chrome Moly would reduce the weight per set by 9lbs but we found the demand to be to low to offer them in Chrome Moly so mild steel is the only option.

Hope that helps!
Ryan
