Is there enough room to place a 5 gallon tank and valves in the trunk of our F-Bodies? I'm quite close to purchasing the hardware needed to complete this project and if it doesn't fit I am going to have to try a different route, either a 3 gallon or that odd shaped tank that fits in the spare tire well. So if any of you have mounted your compressor, tank, and valves in the trunk could you provide a picture of the setup or a reason why you didn't. This will save me from a great deal of frustration if I know now that it will not fit. Thanks.

typically people on here are against air ride because of the spring rate rule:

the lower the ride-height you desire, the stiffer the springs must be.

but the lower you put the car with an air ride, the lower the pressure must be, which is against the rule.

I don't give a **** about the rule, I want the guys with airride to let me know if I can fit my valves in the trunk with a 5gal tank. If I cared about a spring rate I wouldn't be bagging my car.

I'm considering air ride in the future and have been planning it out in my head. They make plates for nitrous bottles that bolt into the spare tire well. I haven't measured any air tanks but there's enough stuff out there in the truck market that there should be a tank that's the right size to fit in there being long and skinny. The 3 gallon ones that look like a spare might be too tall to fit in the well of the Camaro. I wish there were some big truck shows here in Michigan so I could go see some of these air tanks and see what size they really are. It's hard to judge from a picture in a magazine.

Being that I have a vert it makes it difficult on space, you can mount a nice sized tank up where most mount their amps for a sound system on whatever part of the vehicle that is called. I was about to get my hands on a 5 gallon tank from a guy that I work with but he wound up installing it in some guys Blazer so I could never give a test fit. As far as the spare tire well, I might as well bolt in a Nitrogen bottle and strap a regulator for it but refills from the supply house cost a bit more than free air. Have a lot of play time with a Nitrogen bottle though.

So your valves are located at the air strut? Thanks for the picture, do you believe I could fit a 5 gallon with valves attached in the trunk?

It will definately be a tight fit but i think it is do-able.

All of these views and only 1 guy with airride? Oh well, guess I'll be in unexplored territory and I'll make sure to let you all know how it comes out!

That makes sense. I was wondering why I never heard of anyone using this type of suspension. I saw Horsepower TV using them and raving about it on the racetrack and slalom, but then again that show is just a 30 minute long commercial
