Default Lowered Car HELP!! NEEDED ASAP!!!

Ok well I bought my car lowered...and it rides like complete ****!!!!! Every bump and crack i hit it feels like the car bottoms out....it actually hurts!! I have no idea what springs they are (they are black) I jacked up the car and could compress the springs with my hands....is this normal?? I LOVE the way the car looks...but I want a smoother ride....I want something I can daily drive...cause it is literally a chore driving on rodes with patches and stuff....whats the problem?

If I need new springs what will keep me the same height? or do I need new shocks? (still on decarbon ones)

Heres a couple pics

Try giving Sam Strano of stranoparts.com a call. He's a sponsor here and really knows alot about suspension. He sells revalved bilstein shocks designed specifically to work for lowered vehicles at a great price.

ok...

A) damn that car is incredibly low

B) like he said you always need new shocks with lowering springs. ESPECIALLY with as low as you went you probably already destroyed the stock ones.

C) what springs are they? name? type?

D) get a adjustable panhard and torque arm if you're gong to stay that low, panhard will center the rearend back in place and torque arm will get the pinion angle right along with decreasing wheel hop...otherwise you're gonna be snapping the 10 bolts like they were tooth picks...

Yeah I know its low....I have no idea what springs they are....I bought it like this....I was thinking about getting QA1's what do you guys think?

I want the BEST ride possible while still keeping the car lowered like this!!!

Also are you supposed to be able to compress the spring with your hand? no trouble at all?

You can't keep it that low and get a good ride. You don't have any suspension travel, and you kind of need that so the wheels can go over bumps without tossing the whole car. You are now driving what amounts to a child's wagon in terms of suspension. The car will have to come up, a lot. That car looks to me to be at least 2.25" lower than stock. 1.25" is about the most you can have before starting to run into compromises on travel.

And anytime you change heights and/or spring rates you need a springs damper that accouts for that (that'd be your shocks). And not all do. QA1's are drag shocks, and very poor dampers IMHO for even stock springs and get worse as the spring rate rises/travel decreases.

...you didnt buy it from a LS1tech forum member did you? If you wipe some of the road gunk off of them, are they green by any chance?

either way, call Sam Strano - he'll get you sorted out

Sportlines are red, Pro-kits are dark gray/almost black. And just because something is better than what you have, like the QA1's in this case, doesn't mean it's right. Frankly, your car is pretty messed up and I would agree that any car, even if it was as low (which really isn't at all possible) that had any other shock on it would be an improvement. Of course, that's like saying stale bread tastes better than moldy bread.

You can't keep the height. A suspension has to move to work, you are most likely literally sitting on the bumpstops, and hard too. Basically you are driving a go-kart. The car will have to come up, really.

Damn, your car is low. I thought my G2 springs sat low Mine were wearing out my rear bumpstops. Didn't know that until right before I got rid of it. There wasn't much left of them. Change springs and get some decent shocks. It'll be worth it.

If you get decent shocks (Bilstein revalves?) it may help. I personally like the slammed look, but yes it is a harsher ride!

Wow. That's way too low and IMO looks like crap, but opinions really don't mean anything. If it's not air bags (I don't know why you would put air bags on a TA), then something is wrong. Sounds like somebody just clipped the springs and dropped it. Either way something's messed up. Good luck with your search. I absolutely love my setup of Eibach pro springs on my Camaro, just an idea.

I think its just the picture making it look really low....its really about the same height as LS69TA in the above sig....it may be about a 1/4" lower but its hard to see his tires

No Im not willing to raise the car, my buddys car has the QA1's on his ride and all four tires are tucked under the car and his car rides like a caddy, so I will probably go with what he did...I wont ride as los as him tho....

Like I said my car looks like sportlines drop maybe a 1/4" lower
