Default Silicone grease for poly. bushings a must?

Do you have to use silicone based grease on poly bushings? I can`t find it at any local auto parts stores. Thanks for any help.

Normaly a special grease comes with the Poly bushings; I think it is Teflon-based. If you don't use it, your suspension will sould like a creaky old sceen door in the wind!

No.

BMR had sold tubes of silicon grease. I have used the typical grease gun grease for about a year. I can not detect that it is causing problems.

Actually, I need the grease for a BMR adj. panhard rod I just bought. They didn`t send any with it. I see some on their web site but was hoping to find some locally. Tried Murrys, Auto Zone with no luck. Would some synhetic or semi-synthetic grease do the trick??

Hey feller, try regular old anti-seize. The silvery looking goopy stuff you put on your spark plugs.

Saw a post that Sam Strano replied to and he advised it. I tried it and it works great. Easy to find and cheap too.

Eric
Spohn sells it $14 for a large tube. Just bought & used it, looks like good stuff.

Distributor lube is silicone stuff. Might go and
also get some dry graphite powder (locksmith stuff)
and mix up your own paste; that'll be good and
slippery.

I think you can use synthetic grease thats what my instructions told me to use with my metco trailing arms and they have poly bushings.

You can use Marine grade grease,, This is what I did and what BMR recommended to me. You can find it at wal mart next to the regular wheel bearing grease and it fits in a standard gun. It is silicone bases as well. Try Wal-Mart I bet you can find it there as I did.
