Default QA1 shocks with 300# springs...very rough ride.

I have a 2002 WS6 Trans AM, I put QA1 (HAL) shocks on all four corners. They are single adjustable (12 clicks) with the 300# springs in front and stock springs in the rear. The ride is extremely rough. I lowered the front only one inch. I've tried the 12 settings and either it's even more of a rough ride or it's very bouncy. I'm looking for the car to be one inch lower than stock in the front, but for the ride to be much more smooth. It feels like I'm driving an old crappy truck. Any ideas?

They are this model:

HAL Generation "F" Series Front Adjustable Shock &
HAL Generation "F" Series Adjustable Rear Shock &
HAL Generation "F" Series Front Spring, 1993-2002 F-Body, 300lb
Stock rear springs

i have the exact same setup and have my front shocks set on 5 maybe and my rears are set on 4. Thats for street, not for the track, but i noticed it was a lot stiffer then the stock shocks but i don't mind it too much. they're not really luxury car shocks so its not gonna ride like a cadillac or anything. I also like how I can feel the road alot more now. Can't wait to bring it to the track and see what kind of 60' time i can get.

Thats the nature of shocks made for drag racing. If you want a better ride you need to look into shocks designed for handling, they actually damper the springs.

I guess what I really want is something that drops the front 1 inch and has a smoother ride...I'm not sure what to get at this point...

With Koni SA's you can use the lower mounting perch to drop the front 3/4". Those shocks will actually damper the springs and your car will ride better than stock (similar to a sports sedan, very tight and firm).
