How do you like your ROD END LCA's?
???
I'm wondering about the ride on ROD END LCA's. I'm looking at a new set thru Strano to replace my 4.5 year old Hotchkis LCA's that are binding and very heavy. I've also found another Aluminum Tubing LCA's from another site.
How do you like the ride? Noticeable Noise? Harshness? How do they wear (As far as the joint itself referring to dirt/dust)? How do they handle the power?? I've also found a set of Alum tubing LCA's w/ bushings at the end..
Thanx..

I have rod/poly LCA
....installed them a few weeks ago and they were banging over ruff roads at low speeds. ...Went back and greased them with synthetic grease. Queit now and handling is much better than stock.

There was a thread here that discussed this very issue. If I can find it, I will post a link.
The conclusion was that the rod/rod were the best for racing, but the rod/poly were the best for the street, due to the possibility of noise from a rod end bolted to the body of the car.

For rod/poly bars, the rod end should NOT be bolted to the body of the car.
The poly side (not rod end side) goes to the frame/chassis side; right? The rod side goes to the rear end.

In theory, a set of truly top of the line rod ended rod/rod should not have any banging or clunking because there shouldn't be any slack. but even the super duty ones wear down just a little and start clunking after some period of time.
Even still.. there is more noise due to metal-to-metal contact. I would go with a poly/rod combo for street driven LCA's and either poly/rod or rod/rod for PHB.

as far as the PHB poly/rod discussion goes, what would be the main difference between the poly/poly PHB and a rod/poly PHB?? I figured that the poly ones were better then stock anyway? Less flex in the rod/poly unit??

^ Hmm.. I think I'm going to go w/ the Poly/Rod ones that Strano has, then..
I'm picking parts to re-do my rear susp.. I'm going to need new rear springs eventually, but cheap and easy first... Heater hose mod w/ the rubber dampers and chop at the most of 1/2" off my bump stops. I have NO traction!!! Riding on the BS's sucks!! These damn Prokit rear springs are teh suck too..

Weird. I have had LOUD LT headers on the car for years. When I installed poly-rod LCA, PHB my wife said, "this car sounds loud"!
This was in responce to the banging from slow speeds and ruff roads.
I greased the stuff and it is now more quiet than before...

In a car that is intended for handling yes. The reason is the poly/poly ends bind up and doesn't let the rear move like it's suppose to. So as you are turning your springs and sway bars aren't doing what they are suppose to do because the LCA's are keeping the rear from moving.
thats how it was explained to me anyway. I had this problem on my 89 T/A.
