I don't have a live scan or anything like that, The most I have put my car onto is a OBD2 code scanner.

thats what they are telling me, that because the VIN on the ABS unit doesn't match the PCM that it won't communicate..
BTW who can LIVE scan?

any garage with a scanner can put a obd2 scanner and run a live test on it, but unless you know anyone there gona most likely charge 70 to 80 bucs to check it out, but if the stealership guaranteed thats the problem id take it to them let them do there thing, and see what happens im sure they know more then me

Well the dealership didn't say that, a small shop I took it to did. Then I called a few dealerships, most people didn't know what the hell I was talking about, Untill I called a different dealership here (pontiac still) and talked to them the first guy I talked to had to refer me to another and he was able to confirm it...

Armkneez make sure you talk to several people..
The first guy I talked to said " Oh I dont think that would cause the problem.. yad yada ya... bring it in for a $115 diagnostic. "
Beware of the dealership.

.... This crap situation is providing a lot of knowledge.. Pain in the *** but ultimately should benefit all of us.

mine was front brakes locking up, had nothing to do with abs unit even though i changed it solved the problem and the non matching abs unit works fine and no lights are on, live scan it before you keep wasting time and see wat it says,

ok almost all of yesterday the light was off i dorve for about 20 miles throughout the day and it never came on.. traction control button worked and everything..

got in the car at about midnight it was kinda cold... i drove and the LOW TRAC light came on and everytime i hit even a crack in the road it would come on..

i was driving about 20 mph.. as soon as i hit the main street the ABS inop/ASR off came on... and the brakes stopped working well again.. felt like the fluid was out or something? like i had no brakes..

and at low speed like under 10 when i turn and hit the brakes softly.. like doing a UTURN or coming out of a parking lot.. it SHUTTERS and almost doesnt stop..

and to me thats either air in the lines?
but it seems more like the ABS is screwing up..

i also forgot to mension that my car was in a wreck a while ago.. and the same code was thrown because the ABS sensor/hub were messed up... but i replaced my hub and it is still messed up..

i think ima take it to MTI to get it scanned..

Ok, I replaced the abs module with one from a different car and now have abs inop, brake, and service vehicle on. Tcs light went off but i suppose that was because the new module came off a car w/o tcs. I think that tripped the service vehicle light too. I also got it scanned at the dealer who said it was the ebcm (abs module). I guess I'll keep buying 25 dollar modules until I get a good one.
