Default rear brake rotors

i feel like an idiot for posting this. couldnt find anything on it?

i looked in my haynes manual, i'm doin everything right from what it says, but haynes manuals arent the greatest.

tryin to remove my rear rotors from my 02 trans am. the brake calipers/brackets are off. nothing but a rotor sitting over the studs (yes, i removed the lockwashers). the rotors will NOT budge eve a little, there is absolutely no play, and even with a hammer they wont budge at ALL.

am I missing something??

Thanks in advance

what do u mean by released it? the brake is all the way down, and the cable is unhooked from the arm that is attached to the brake.

Oftimes, the brake shoes inside the hub will still rest against the hub, even when the handle is all the way down. Keep whackin!

if you can spin the axle its prolly not the emergency brakes just prolly seized on there from rust and what not.
Just spray some wd-40 or penetrating oil and keep working with it

Yea, I had one that would not come off, so I also had to sledgehammer it. Just the back rotor on the driverside though.

I used the blunt size of a wood splitting axe

And I had the e brake engaged as well. The worst part was that I couldn't figure out that the circular piece thing was the ebrake shoe for like an hour at least.

passenger side was a little easier, but i actually BROKE the rotor i was hitting it so hard. lmfao.

Thanks for the help guys!

Default Use a 2X4 and c-clamps

Sounds like this is too late, but... steady pressure works better than impacts. If you take a 2X4, run it across the wheel studs and then use two c-clamps to squeeze the back of the rotor and 2X4 together, they will pop right off.

...had the same issue a few weeks back....

..apparently the rotors rust on to the hub.... ...much slamming with a sledge finally did it for me.
