Default Torque arm...which body mount is the best...

I need to get the torque arm off of the tail shaft because right now the stock bracket is bent pretty bad from 1.5s 60fts....which body mount torque arm is the best for 60ft and has great clearance...also chromoly is a plus...thanks

BMR, Spohn, Madman, & UMI are the norms, I haven't driven a car with the Spohn, but the BMR is the one of choice so far for myself

We offer (4) different styles of tunnel mounted torque arms (all linked below) We offer them for different exhaust systems and with or with out drive shaft loops. They are all also available in Chrome Moly. They fit the factory rear end as well as the 12-Bolt, 9" and S60. They also offer instant center adjustment in the front. I have the adjustable tunnel brace mounted Spohn torque arm w/driveshaft loop. It was highly recommended by Larry@Speed Inc. and it's working good for the camaro. See video below, a 1.53 short time.

i have a custom ory pipe, with qtp headers...i can take a picture today...pm me some prices umi and steve..thanks guys...also include the weight if you can too...

i have the tunnel brace mounted torque arm from umi with a built in dsl and clearned for long tubes. nice stuff. the stuff from burkhart is awesome aswell.

I have a UMI torque arm and its pretty sturdy but....BMR's setup is way better though. It welds into the subframe connectors (which is a must have if you are getting a bmr setup) but I assume you already have that since your pulling such low times. So for serious launching like your doing I would definitely suggest BMR

I have the BMR arm and went with the Spohn bolt-on brace. Works good.

is there an advantage to having a body mounted as opposed to a tranny mounted? or will i be fine with the tranny mounted one?

The shorter tunnel mounted torque arms transfer weight better and reduce the stress from the tail shaft where the factory style bolts. The choice of which style would be based on how you drove the vehicle. How is it driven?

If you are serious about dragstrip performance we take a different approach ..



We provide a crossbrace to mount the torqure arm directly to your subframes instead of the sheet metal floor where there is no structure. Kind of a no brainer huh...

However it isn't a true tunnel mounted torque arm. The tunnel mounted torque arms you see above are shorter arms that mount into the tunnel area of the vehicle. The shorter arm will transmit the weight of the car back quicker. The arm you mention above is a long stock length torque arm that bolts into a transmission cross-member.. its virtually the same as using a stock length torque arm and a relocation kit. It is about 8"s longer then our short tunnel mounted arms.

uhhhh... by the way.... i do have a true tunnel mounted torque arm assy. fits the stock type mounts. this is one of the first components i started producing for the f-body's. and guess what... i even have the same thing that works with dual exhausts...

they feature an adjustable pivot link that connects the crossmember to the arm. the arm has a teflon lined aircraft heim joint to let the suspension articulate and not bind, and the link is connected to the crossmember with a Energy Suspension poly bushing to prevent noise on street cars. a solid bushed version is also available for the track-only cars.

bolt-in design, no welding needed. torque arms are chromemoly construction and tig welded, all designs adjustable front and rear. all designs include a NHRA legal driveshaft loop at no extra charge.

We make a torque arm specifically to clear the TSP true dual system. When we designed this arm we used the TSP system as a guide for clearance since it is a very popular exhaust set-up. Our torque arm allows you to use a TSP true dual set-up and to actually tuck the exhaust up a additional 1" over the factory torque arm. Whichever torque arm you select, please feel free to use the BMR instructional video for setting your pinion angle. It is located on the front page of our website at

Also, keep in my mind that the fastest stock suspension F-bodies use BMR products. We are the only suspension company on this board with customer cars that run in the 7 second zone. All of our 7-second customers use off-the-shelf suspension parts.
