Computer Repair in/around Sugarland/Needville?
My home computer I think needs a power supply and want someone to go in and load a good antivirus, spyware software on it, and perhaps just do a once through to check it out thoroughly.
Anyone do that work on here??

unplug all PS plugs
remove 4 screws
pull out power supply
put new PS in
plug back in the plugs
done.
Theres tons of good free antivirus. Theres more then that you can do.
Download firefox web browser.
Install noscript addon
install adblock plus
install filter set g
Use AVG free
Nod32
etc

Yes, changing out the power supply is easier than changing the oil on your car (and less messy, unless you somehow forget to unplug the power supply and end up electrocuting yourself).

Once you get the PS replaced I can help you out with any configurations. We can open a remote support session and I can straighten up everything for you and your computer wont have to move from your desk. Give it a tuneup and a good virus scanner.

I had one guy tell me that he feels a virus is in the computer (told me the name but dont remember now) as sometimes it runs well, and other times barely moves. he said care would have to be taken as was a virus that would wipe out my hard drive if not careful...dont want that to happen. Really need someone that has the equipment and ability to check it out personally. i have a lot of pics and other things i don't want sacrificed.

As far as virus. If you think you have one, scan. theres tons of free programs to do free scans, there is even an online one.
If its something that cant be removed then back everything up and reformat. No special equipment needed.

No conclusions...just logical guess based on it will not power on. I hear you..know they aren't that complicated but the virus thing has gotten me a little spooked. Really want someone to look at that for me so no mistakes are made. Too much on hard drive i dont want to lose.

oh fair enough. That is more then likely PSU failure.
You can always do multiple hard drives for information backup. I used to have a small HD to run my OS on and another HD to save everything then another external to copy anything i thought important.

External Hard Drive Backup ASAP
If your data isn't too terribly large you could get by with a large usb flash drive (I got an 8GB at fry's for $30)
Try a reformat yourself, not too complicated.
NOD32 dumdumdum
