NDBJJ, JD Shelly is my boy and he competes unlike most instructors that want to save their rep.
he is all about BJJ and has a fight team that has fights on a regular basis, its been about 4 years since ive visited their school but JD Shelly is one of the best bjj instructors period and is very enthusiastic
if you go to local bjj tournaments you will see all the instructors in the back watching their students but JD Shelly and myself will be on the sideline on the floor yelling and helping and trust me it makes a huge difference when you are new, you feel like you know someone has your back rather you win or lose
when you are new to competiting in front of people there is alot of nerves or that butterfly in your stomach feeling and you are kinda in shock but when you have your teacher on the floor right there beside you pointing out things and yelling and cheering for you it will get your blood pumping and you will be able to put those nerves away and focus on beating your opponent
it also builds a stronger bond between teacher and student and in TX the only instructors i know that has your back like that is myself and JD Shelly..... so if you are in Dallas i would highly recommend NDBJJ, its not just sport there its family and friends working together becoming better
