Friend died in car wreck this weekend need to vent
This is my first time posting here, my name is Miguel and i work for Icon Autosports. My really close friend of over 10 years was killed after he lost control of his mustang and slammed into a tree on long dr. in s.e. Houston on Saturday afternoon. He had an ls1 in it and loved to race, win or loose it was just his passion, he loved the joy of it. He was making a few runs in front of his shop like we had done millions of times, witnesses say he hit a pot hole and his front passenger suspension (strut, spindle, wheel and fender flew off) he lost control and hit a tree. One of his techs and a friend along with other witnesses ran to the scene and tried to revive him, but it was to late. I just got back from the church and saw him in his casket, and cannot believe it, i got this man into the racing scene when i met him on Westhiemer over 10 years ago and we became so close, should i blame my self for this?, but then again when you saw him in his car, he was like a 10 year old with a new toy!!! He was always at the track and loved this sport ,he died in his beloved car, doing what he loved most, i just never tought it would end like this. His car can be seen on khou news key words "91 ford mustang slams into tree". He will be missed by everyone who had the pleasure of meeting him, to my friend.....gone but never forgotten
Otoniel Chavez or as everyone called him "My Friend"
You will be missed

DO NOT BLAME YOURSELF!
If he didn't enjoy what he was doing, he wouldn't have been doin it for the past ten years. We all know the 'risks' of our sport or hobby with our cars and at any time, anything can happen.
RIP Chavez and prayers to his family and to you and yours.......

Sorry about your friend, thats very unfortunate. About 1.5 yr ago I lost a close friend that I had known for 25+ yrs - he took his own life and I knew how it was, it didnt help- I tried to help him through his divorce and get on with life. I feel like I failed. I feel your pain, my thoughts are with you.

Don't beat yourself up over this. he left us doing what he loved to do. I've been in a similar wreck and once you hit that pothole and everything breaks loose you can't control the car...
may he rest in peace.
