Default Got hit in the T/A today, many large pictures inside.

This afternoon around 2pm I was headed northbound on the Dallas Tollway and I stopped at a toll booth to pay the toll. As I pull up to the "Change Made" booth, I come to a stop and grab a dollar from the center cup holder. I was reaching out the window to hand it to the assistant when I briefly heard tires screeching before feeling a very hard impact. My car flew forward and jumped up on the little curb where the "STOP/GO" light and gate arm are located.

After I realized what had happened, I pulled over to the side as not to block traffic. It was then I realized that my glasses and cell phone were missing. I was wearing my glasses and my cell phone was sitting in the passenger seat. I found my glasses in the hatch area after climbing back there, my phone was wedged between the driver seat and center console. I tried opening the hatch but it won't budge, I had to climb back there. The t-top holding area in the hatch is obliterated. I can feel the metal crinkled up under the carpet on the center hump between the rear seats.

I went to the hospital to get checked out, everything seems fine. My elbow/knee hurt from time to time, my neck and back are starting to stiffen up as well. They gave me some pills but that's all for now.

Pictures of the scene/aftermath follow.

My 2001 T/A, 35,7xx miles, heads/cam/built 4L60E/etc.:

I was in the 2nd booth from the end closest to us:

She had to be either on her cell phone or just straight up clueless...Bird looks like it took the impact pretty well. Glad you're ok and hope you heal up!

Her excuse was her brakes went out. I think she was probably texting or something equally asinine.

I'm hoping they total it, I just don't know what the threshold is for damage:value.

Here is my one complaint about F-bodies. In an impact like that it looks like they hit you at low speed. These ******* cars can be hit by someone doing 45-50 and look like yours. The other insurance company will like to call this a low impact crash.

I'm still waiting on my money from the crash in my old red Firebird, not the WS6. Rear of my car looked just like yours but the bitch hit me doing about 45.

I would assume they total it. Look under your car, where the 2 small frame rails are between the wheel wells and gas tank. I promis they are bent slightly. Unibody damage usually equalls totalled. Not always though.

The prosecution rests ...

Glad you are doing well.

Don't sign ANYTHING till you are 100% OK. The insurance carrier will work you hard to cut their losses. But I don't see how they can weasel out of this one.

I would journal everything you do that causes you discomfort. Anything you can no longer do, write it down. And log any and all expenses you incur post accident ... EVERYTHING.

It's a PITA, but can become a huge mound of cash.

I would also refrain from giving too much information out on the net. You never know how an attorney can take phrases out of context, twist the meaning and make you look like an ***-hat. Just be careful.

dude that sucks. i hate that area of the tollway and advoid it at all costs if i can. you need a toll tag. i about got forced into the side barrier at the enterance toll booth onto GB and Coit heading east tuesday night when i guy whipped over and cut me off (him being stopped at the coin booth). i just dropped it into 3rd and flew past him a couple feet from the wall. then the jerkoff followed me for a few miles...

it looks like more damage was caused to her POS than your bird. hopefully you can get your car fixed and back on the road soon...

unibody damage doesnt equal a total. i write estimates at a body shop and have worked for insurance before and we repair them all the time. just needs some frame time
