I dont know all of them but start looking for land derrick companys in the area. Ive done a few land rig inspections in the greater dfw area for Nabors drilling. I think theres a company called key drilling thats pretty heavy into land derricks in tx.
if your not lookin to work ON the rigs, i cant really help you. i dont anything about the inland oil and gas industry as it pertains to office work (engineering, operations etc etc)

Drilling continues for natural gas in the Barnett Shale below Johnson County and portions of the surrounding counties in DFW but drilling has declined due to the saturation of newly placed wells. May still be worth looking into. There are numerous related drilling companies that have shops along the side of US 67 through the county though I dont know the names.

You're lucky now if you can even keep a job around there, much less find a new one. I work for a company that lays pipelines for oil and gas and I used to be around dfw a few times a month, we haven't had a new line there in a few months though.

Nabors Drilling, Kilgore TX (903) 984-5511
Nomac Drilling, Marshall TX (903) 934-9301
Nomac should still be doing plenty because of Chesapeake and the Haynsville Shell...

I can't disclose much, but I would shy away from Chesapeake.
As far as DFW Johnson/Tarrant County, I would check with XTO, Elllora, etc...
Also, Pennsylvania is kicking. Good.
If you have any Surveying Experience, I could probably send you to Pennsylvania, quick.

like i said, west texas is the safest bet in texas right now. my brother and dad are both directional drillers and the rig they are assigned to has 12 more directional wells with permits right now and they are told they will be out working for a good long while after those holes. i know all of the pathfinder hands from new mexico/colorado are all trying to transfer down there.

You could definately look into the haynesville shale in Louisiana it is red hot over there. I work in a pipe threading facility and just about all our work is heading that way. Like the post above said you could also look into Penn state my brother was also doing somed coil tubing work up there.
