You won't make 400 RWHP out of an old school 350, you'll be lucky to get 1 to 1. You would have to turn it into a 406 and probably still won't make 400. Why are you so insistant on making 400? HP numbers don't mean anything, what it runs is what matters. It is what it is. If you continue to beat a dead horse no one will pay any attention to you.

Just curious why so determined to get so much more hp? Do you race people you know and lose so you are trying to get back at them or something. It looks more like your car is for show and no offense but for a teenager you probably don't need that much out of it.

Well alot of teenagers would love that but to be honest most couldn't handle that. Since you are obviously still alive and had that much hp as a teenager I applaud you sir. But I look at the late 70's as more of show cars than speed. I was just curious if there was a reason other than speed that he wanted the hp. Wondering if he races people and stuff along those lines.

i am used to faster car, growing up one of the cars that i remeber my grampa having was a 56 chevy with a 75 chevy motor only difference in mine and his was a cam, headers, ignition, a 1800 stall converter, and a 3 duce intake, and he was pulling 400 atleast. the 56 had a muncie 4 speed, thats what i learned to drive in. so like i said im used to more. my camaro is at the most pushing 200, and we mess with each other but have never raced, and im the 2ndd fastest out of 3 other cars, beating me is a 67 mustanf coupe with a 4brrl

I am competitive too and if I was him would probably be trying to out do that mustang. But those little 289's are quick. But atleast the 2 fastest in your group are old muscle cars.

RWHP or fly wheel HP, there's a hell of alot of difference, show me the dyno sheets and make me a believer. I watched a 70 Chevelle SS with a 454 make 265 RWHP on the dyno. Your not gonna make 400 RWHP N/A out of an old school 350, I know I'm old school. We couldn't do it then you won't do it now. The stock 350 in my 69 Camaro probably makes somewhere around 200 RWHP and that's it. I call bullshit.

a CAI and a "chip"
are only going to net him around 5rwhp.. so lets say 10 crank on a good day...
i saw a late 70 model camaro last night with a tree-fitty in it get beat by a 1995 V6 3.4l..
the v6 got him by about 1-1 1/2 up to about 40 and ended up putting about 3-4 on it..

a 11.5:1 comp 355 with some mildy ported vortec heads and a split pattern hydraulic cam staying under 244 duration@.050 with a performer rpm intake & 650 cfm carb would net you about 430 or so hp at the crank. then with about a 25-2800 stall convertor in your th350 and some 3.73 gears and sticky tires you would be looking at about a 12.40-60 timeslip depending on 60 ft and traction
