Has any one ever been there ? If you have what did you think about it ?

 

It's a pretty neat place if you've never been. The water is ALWAYS cold and you have to take your time walking on the rocks (algae) or you will look foolish. Go on a hot day and you will enjoy it

 

i was just there late june....its awesome....the water was much higher 15 years ago and flowed much faster....still a nice place to hang with friends....and yes algae can be ur worst enemy if ur not careful

 

werd, beer + algae= slip and fall

cool place to hang out. You have to pay a little to get in. You can swim in the cold water or lay out on the hill in the sun

 

Barton springs is great. Love playing a round of disc golf at zilker then jumping in the water.

 

Always something to look at too.

Barton is nice in the summer, lots of girls out there. Also there is a place off of 360, kind of across/cady corner from the bbq place that we used to go to. You had to park on the highway then go in through a cut in the fence and hike down. That was a cool place, I think everybody out there smoked weed....lol. Anybody know what I'm talking about, I forgot the name???

 

I went there when I was about 8 years old (1985) and froze my little ***** off. That water was COLD!

 

ditto. i hated barton creek. way too freaking cold, even though it was 100+ the day we went. i got out of there before i went into hypothermic shock! LOL. i much prefer the rivers in the green belt, like the new wall area, used to love climbing and swimming in the river there.

 

Even in the summer it's cold, cold, cold. I like the Guadalupe, Comal or Frio better. Cool hangout place in Austin though with a lot of history and scenery.

 

We always called that place "Twin Falls"
You can also get to it faster from under the bridge at mopac and 360..but parking can stack up quick.

 

it's not that cold, have you guys never to been to a beach besides Galveston???

Yeah. Oahu and it was nice and warm.

 

Yea, I've been to destin and cancun, nice hot water. I don't mind the water at barton though, as long as you're there on a hot day.

 

Yea thats it! I prefered twin falls to barton.

 

barton is one of those places you should at least check out once. its a natural aquifer (sp?). its pretty cool, i had goggles, they look gay, but you need them there to get the full effect. once you get used to the water and start swimming its really cool to see everything under you. the water is the most clear you'll find in texas, as far as i'm concerned. go.
