Knock out the junk on the bottom of the intake before hand. Use a chisel / flat head and hammer. Sanding them down was messy and annoying...

this mod is very very easy to do, if your going to do this alone you will need to mod the intake its self,i cant find the pic but here is a vid of a member doing the swap step by step:

dude there is no modding to the intake.. you put the intake on there without modification you just have to change the coolant routing..

Or you can save money and knock the crap off the bottom of the intake and leave it as is...

It's a very easy swap, but here's my advice and some of it may repeat earlier posters.

1. Be very careful when you remove the LS1 intake not to break the oil pressure sending unit. There are two vacuum hoses back there. One in front of it and one behind it, so they tend to snag it and break it. Remove it with a buddy, so one of you can hold the hoses away from the sending unit while the other lifts the intake.

2. The gaskets are semi-reusable. Meaning if the LS6 intake has not been off and on a motor more than once or twice, the gaskets should be fine and don't need replacing unless... like I said... the intake has been on and off a bunch of times.

3. I advise NOT changing the coolant routing. Instead I advise taking a dremel, etc. and removing the ribs on the bottom of the LS6 intake in the path of the stock LS1 coolant tubes. That's what I did on my '99 Z28 when I installed an LS6 intake. I prefer to keep the LS1 coolant tubes as I believe it helps with the coolant distro problem that can make cylinder #7 vulnerable. I never removed the coolant tubes. I was lucky to have an extra coolant tube laying on the shelf so I used it as a template and I just marked the path on the bottom of the LS6 and removed the ribs so that everything would clear. Remember to remove enough material where the two plastic holders are for the knock sensor wiring harness to clear them. I think some people have removed those clips, but I kept mine. It's very easy and results in a safer mod than messing around with switching the coolant tubes and you save money by not buying those parts.
