Default Car throwing P0420 code and oil pressure above normal

Yesterday morning the SES light came on so I took it to AutoZone to have them scan it and it was reading code P0420 (Catalyst efficiency low - bank 1). I've also noticed that the Oil Pressure gauge is showing a significant rise in oil pressure (normally it sits at around 45, now it sits around 55-60 or more if past 2/3 throttle). Off the top of my head I'm thinking maybe a bad PCV valve (would explain the increase in oil pressure),but I thought I would post and see if anyone else has experienced this and what the cause was in their case.

Any ideas?

the p0420 cat low eff has to do with your cats or lack there of. if u have gutted cats or no cats all together. i would clear dtc and try and get sims for the rear o2 or tune it out. if you have cats and plan on keeping them i would do a back pressure test on the affected bank and replace cat that fails.

It still has the stock exhaust, and I may have to have someone test the back pressure if the simple fixes don't work. Anyone know about how much it usually costs (ballpark) to have it tested?

warranty on cats is 10 years/120k miles, better check the sale date on your VIS. Sounds like you have a clogged cat. If you have one, the other is probably not far behind.

Oddly enough, I changed the PCV yesterday and last night it was still throwing the code. This morning, I got up and was driving to the dealership and on the way the code magically disappeared and the oil pressure was back to normal. Good thing too, because apparently I had the cats swapped back in '06 and the special warranty only covers them for another 12k miles after that (that was about 30k miles ago).

That code could simply be an oxygen sensor... bank 1 denotes driver side, upper sensor.
