I just bought a c4 corvette targa top with a new 4 speed automatic. Car has been almost completely restored years ago. Including new paint, dash and digital gauges. They had a family friend who "knew what he was doing" rebuild the LT1 and install it. He put in a piston ring backwards, and scratched up the crank as well. So i got the car with everything but the motor...
This saves me money on my swap, as i wont need to go out and buy a bunch of crap.
Its in awesome condition. Ive never owned car. It has been in my friends shop with the cover on it for for years. His uncle owned it and is clearing out stuff. Sold it to me because he wanted to see it run again.
The fun part:
My LQ9 will bolt right in. So over 400hp in this thing should be INSANELY FUN. I'm upset about not doing it to the truck.
I paid 800 for this car. I will get pictures when we trailer it home tomorrow.
Anyone know what the 4 speed auto was in this year corvette? Its a 85 frame with a 93 carbon fiber body. Automatic.
So i need to know if this LT1 tranny can be made to work with the LQ9. If so what do i need to do?
I know i will need an F body oil pan, and some F body accessories.

yes the Six Speeds not match, but any auto should work, hell Im running a powerglide behind my LS1. And many people use th350's and 400's behind theirs...I've also seen 700r used in retrofitted vehicles which is what you would be doing. So yes you can use it...If one or two of the boltholes from the bellhousing dont match up to the block dont worry about it. I used ARP bolts on my powerglide(It has 4 holding to the block) and it holds strong.

You didnt say what year your engine was? I believe pre 01 6.0 had a longer crank for the torque converter and 01 up needs a spacer behind the flyweel. Your trans in 85 should have been a Metric 700-r4 in 93 it would have been a 4l60e. both should bolt up you would have to leave out 1 bolt in the bell housing at the 2 o'clock position
