Default Looking for some helpers

So I am just getting into this scene even though I have had nothing but GM cars. I tried to get into TACH but no luck...must be disbanned. I owned a 1992 Iroc before I traded it in for a 2000 Trans Am in 2001. I got it from Mac Haik, from the used lot for 19k with 11,000 miles on it. It must have been owned by a new standard (six speed) driver because the clutch was bad. Now thats its all paid for and fully repaired I am now upgrading it. I see a lot of people in here are from Houston or the surrounding area. I have a good friend that has a Vette that was supercharged by England Green. I think is 560RWH, its kinda scary but it gave me the Fever. So I am doing all the upgrades and I am not rich so I am gonna need some help. I know there are a lot of people out there that just love to work on cars and I would actually be greatful if I could get some assistance with this job. My T/A has been down for over a month and I am stuck driving an Xterra with about as much power as a 1979 Beatle.

I am looking to get this done in Janurary. Can someone just come out and help me get this thing on the road so I can lay down a fresh coat of rubber???

I know you c/p'd this from the Newbie section, but you may want to post up what you're doing here and what you need help with since that was obvious there, but not so much here.

Your right Head Hunter......

I live in North Houston just between 249 and 290. I am going to be doing some upgrades on my TA but I am not an expert on this particular engine. I can do the basic repairs, water pump, thermostat, headlight motors...etc. I have been driving this car since 2001 and I have been wanting to get it to where I would like it to be but do to a good job, marriage and mom's cancer its been on a back burner. This is no longer my daily driver but it use to be. It does have 160k on it but only about 25k in the past 4 years. I used to live in Atascocita and work off 290 North so the T/A has alot of Beltway 8 miles on it now but I would consider that all highway miles. I was not a ruff driver on the car for the last 100k but I was young and dumb for the first 40k. I finally have the time and effort to get this thing to look like I want it too.

This car does not smoke but it does have an oil leak and I think its the rear main seal.

What I need to Install.....

LS6 Intake Manifold
MS4 Comp Cam
243 Heads from a C5 Z06 already has dual springs
28lb Injectors
Melling HP oil Pump
Hooker Headers and "Y" pipe.
LS2 Chain
don't have pushrods yet as Texas Speed wants me to measure the ones I have first.

I was just asking if there was a few people out there that would be willing to lend a hand as I am gonna need it. I have one friend that kinda knows some stuff but we would both feel better if we had someone else that has done this before.

All that stuff is pretty easy to do, like someone suggested the ls1howto site is great and it will walk you through everything. 160k miles is a lot IMO to be going with a monster cam like that.

With that many miles you should just swap a new LS6 in place and have fun.

To me the miles is not the issue but if you have an LS6 motor lying around ill gladly take it off your hands.

This thing runs great. I have babied it for the last 4years. Plus I live in Houston where it takes 45 minutes just to get out of town so its gonna have miles on it. This motor is stock but I rebuilt most of 4 years ago. The engine really only has a little over 40k on it since the rebuild. I have just about replaced everything on this car over the last 5 years. The last 4 years my travel to work was 12 miles round trip with only 4 red lights.

I took a trip to Midland in it last year to see my old stomping grounds and it did great. The only thing I have had to replace cause it broke was my headlight motors and those went aluminum gears now. Well when the raditaor blew I just thought it was time.

AS A MATTER OF FACT! I do have a brand new crate LS6 still in the box from GM. Long block complete, and its for SALE! It is ready to go and if you drive to Victoria to pick it up I will make you a hell of a deal on it. PM if interested-Robert

Texas-Firehawk if you don't want that ls6 longblock then let me know I'm interesting depending on the price but I don't want to step on anyone's toes...if you decide to pass it up then I'd like a shot at it if 1c62nv still wants to sell it...

1c62nv pm me about the motor

Not gonna do the swap as I feel mine can handle the power. I only adding about 100HP to a completely rebuilt stock engine that has only 40-50k on it.
