Default Does Texas Law require a hood on a vehicle?

Just curious, did a quick search and couldn't find anything via google.

I'm trying to pick up a hood this weekend ~4 hours away, I doubt it'll fit in the back and I don't have access to a truck other than a Trailblazer which it would have to go on top of.

Was thinking it would be easier to just pull mine off, pick it up, and put it on?

Any help? =)

A hood will fit in the back. Slide it in sideways and take off one of the plastic covers for the quarter panels and you should be good.

It should fit in the back. we put one in ford explorer last weekend, it was FRESHLY painted like an hour and a half before and it was fine. i would think a trailblazer would be more roomie. just take some couch pillows just incase you have to put on side up.
Try ur stock one first too.

ive got guys at ft hood that run hoodless all the time its not a ticketable offense but is a excuse for a cop to pull you over to do a random stop but no you wont pass inspection if you go to a ***** place but nowhere in the inspection manual did i see you are required to have a hood

I driven my old car hoodless for a week and it was past state troopers and all. if you do get stopped say it was stolen and your in the process of going to get another one.

In a Camaro or a TB?

Will probably have to end up driving the Camaro since the TB is my dad's.
I'll leave mine on, see if I can get it in the back, if not I'll take off the stocker and see if I can get anything for it and put on the new one lol.

Man up and drive it out there with no hood, i have done it allot and never had a issue. My old hood was screwed up at one time so i just drove without it to the meets for about a month before the new hood cam in, of course a 89 camaro with a intake and air cleaner sticking out the engine compartment might look more like i would get away with it, you should just do it.

i would think so, look at the classic cars without any front sheet metal. h3ll ive drove my 67 cutlass with only a radiator core support, no other front sheet metal otherwise. id drive up there without a hood and just put it on there. if you get pulled over explain your situation to the cop.

No hood required, coming from a state insPector of 9 years. Doors are not required either or a windshield, but you have to have wipers and a place to display inspection and registration.

I drove without a hood to dallas 2 years ago to pick up an SS hood for my 01 Z/28, got it from 94TRANS. I recall passing a few troopers on the way, no issues...Just make sure you have all the hardware, tools to install the new hood...

Nothing in Texas Transportation Code requires you to have a hood on your car.
