I have a red top right now. The first one went out after not starting my car for a long time. I had it replaced under warranty, and haven't had any problems.

The old ones were great. The new ones are junk. They are used a ton in the off road industry and very few people will even use them if they are free under warranty now.
There is a very long thread on Pirate about them and the changes if you feel like reading for a long time.
It seems that Odyssey or Deka is the way to go now.

Good batteries if you dont kill the charge. In which case they become junk . Optima yellow top is best for the cars that sit a long time. I have a optima red top in my 72 camaro that has been in it since 1999 and still works great . On the flipside the redtop i bought in 2007 was a total shitbox and couldnt sit more than 3 day before being completely dead.it only made it one year.

Red Tops, second one in my Z 5years and counting sat 6 mo.waiting on engine change, 1st one lasted 6 years but a bad alt took it out. 4 years and counting in my G35. If either car is going to sit for more than 4 days, I hook up a trickle charger. The trick with any auto bat is to keep them charged, newer cars even sitting will drain any bat.

I have had mine since 2002.
The thing with optima batterys is not to let them loose a charge.
My car sits for weeks at a time so i got the battery minder maintanace charger.
No problems.
