Houston community college used to teach a cdl class. I heard they made some "New" laws/ regulations that put alot of those small get your CDL here companies out of business.
Also some of the larger carriers Swift, Stevens, JB Hunt offer classes. I know Stevens Transport used to do one in Houston.

When I did the school at HCC, that's where Stevens and CRST had their schools. OP, a lot of those companies like we just mentioned will put you through their school and pay for it as long as you sign an agreement to work for them for x amount of time. Usually that's the best way to get your foot in the door

When I got mine I just had to take the written test and pass it, then go take a test drive. I had just started with Pepsi and they let me use one of the company trucks for the drive.

Get a job at pepsi, silver eagle or coca cola, they require you to get a CDL (they provide the trucks) within 90 days of hiring.

Although I warn you! Stay in school or do some thing else, unless you are hauling frac sand for the oil wells (2-3 grand a week, but you must surgically attach yourself to the truck) you are more than likely gonna be under paid, over competed and hunted like a wild animal by DOT

good luck bro.
