Smile Wanted- DFW Feature Firebirds for High Performance Pontiac Magazine

Have a 3rd or 4th gen Firebird that you feel is "feature" worthy for a magazine? Typically the type of 'Bird or TA that we feature is extremely clean and has either a built engine or power adder and aftermarket wheels.

If you think your car qualifies and you are willing to come into the DFW area for a photo shoot, do the following:

Prepare an organized list of the basics (Year, model, color, engine & specifics, drivetrain and specifics, interior, suspension, wheels; etc.) and at least five high-quality shots of the car (front 3/4, rear 3/4, front end, engine, interior) and either send the list and photos to me at the e-mail below or send a list and a link to a Photobucket or Shutterfly account (or equivalent) for the photos. I live in the DFW area and will consider all submissions and set up appointments to take a look at the car if it looks like a good candidate. Go to http://www.highperformancepontiac.co...les/index.htmland look under features for Firebirds to get an idea of the featured late-model Firebirds. Unfortunately at this time we are not looking for GTO's (several already lined up) .

How about a first gen with a real Pontiac engine in it? Most are getting LS engines so this one is rare, haha.

We are currently building an LT1 TA and a nasty twin turbo LS 94 Firebird that I think will be feature ready in about year or so. Both cars are in Houston. Both cars when completed will be very magazine worthy.

Cool

You know I got one! got a new (amazing) paint job on it with custom flames. I also have a new top-end (intake/throttle) set-up sitting on a high 9-second 347 engine with no power adders. Trans is being freshened right now when is the due date and/or photo shoot date??

Thanks; two applications in so far. As far as a due date and/or photo shoot it depends on the car, owner's schedule, magazine schedule and mine as well. A good example would be color. Lets say for example that I received a total of 6 applications of which four were red and all of them were feature worthy. We normally don't run red Firebirds consecutively in issues as a reader may think its the same car. For example, two of the Whiteside Customs GTO's were shot (both blue) and it will be a total of six months between issues. A photo shoot could happen as quickly as next week and then it would be a minimum of 60 days out from publication. My best advice is submit to me when the car is done and we will work the details from there. We are always looking for high-quality Firebirds year-round so e-mail me when you have a candidate. From a background perspective, the magazine is located in Tampa with other titles such as GMHTP, Vette; etc. Once they tap out the local Florida market and the summer show/race season tails off its up to Texas to step up. I know this is submitted as a DFW thread but if there's enough quality Birds in Houston/Austin/San Antonio to justify a trip that's not out of the question. Thanks to everyone for their support and I will respond to all that send me e-mail.

Hopefully my car can be finished before you begin shooting. An 01' 22K miles Bird sounds magazine worthy

Thanks- it is a sickness.... I remeber a friend telling me that he couldn't think of a crappier car than a Pontiac and couldn't believe someone would collect them. I found out later he was referring to his HS girlfriends 92 grand am! Guy had no idea of what they used to build or F bodies in general

I responded to the three applications sent in so far. If you have sent an e-mail and I haven't responded or you have an entry please get a hold of me. So far I have approval to go view one car (step before the feature is approved). 65GP, I can send a message to the editor on your 1 of 41 WS6 Formula convertible if you send in the details. YellowTA1, I just responded to your application with some questions from the editor. Keep the applications rolling in, if you have a project in work and it will finish by the end of the year, by all means send in the application. We can only run so many late-model features and most of the time the features will sit for a while before they get a publication date. Bring em!

Keep the applications rollling in. The only caveat I didn't mention is that if your car was in a feature in one of our sister magazines such as GMHTP, we can't shoot a feature on a car that was already done. Dan, I hoped you would eventually catch up to this thread. I also need to take a closer look at your first gen. And no, there is no hard deadline but the sooner the better. The one thing we have going for us is weather. Its pretty difficult to shoot Birds in cold weather climates between November and early March.
