Default Oil lost but no oil leak

I'm just curious if anyone else here is or has experienced what is happening to me right now.

I just changed my oil in July and just yesterday my "low oil" light came on, and I'm not sure why because there was no oil leak apparent on my driveway. Last night it stormed pretty hard so my bird too shelter in the garage because my T-Tops leak and while it was in there I checked the oil level and it was extremely low so I added a quart of oil and let it run for about 10 minutes and then checked the oil level again then it was right in the middle of the hash marks on the dipstick. As I left for my class today I noticed there was a small puddle of what seemed to be oil that gathered last night. So right now my car is up on jack stands because I'm trying to figure out where this oil is coming from. I was looking around under the car I noticed a drop of something, it seems to be transmission fluid dripping off of this

I'm leaving it up level on all 4 jack stands and waiting a hour to see if anything else will leak out. If anyone has ANY idea of where my oil might be going please let me know!
Thanks in advance, Chad.

How hard is this to fix?

If part of the warranty is to replace that bad seal, yes.

the older style pcv systems are well known for oil consumption issues... 1 qt between regular oil changes is normal, just keep an eye on it... you could upgrade to the ls6 pcv system and that will help... this is more than likely the problem assuming your engine is in good shape... is there any blue smoke coming out of the exhaust?... if yes, that indicates oil entering the combustion chamber due to worn rings or valve seals

No, there isn't any smoke coming out of the exhaust and yes the engine is running very well.

Pull your MAF/bellows off and look inside the intake with the tb blade open. Chances are there'll be oil all over the inside. If so then it's sucking oil through the pcv valve. My last car was notorious for it. I tried the truck pcv valve and it didn't fix it, so I made a catch can and solved it that way.

Yea when I ported and polished my tb I noticed a lot of dark residue on the back side behind the blade... I didn't think much of it though.

What Brand of Oil are you using? I doubt any major oil brand for cars do this but On diesels When I use the affordable oil, I loose about two gallons in between Oil changes. Of course the cheaper oil might be Crisco and water and it evaporates (call me crazy) but when I use Rotella T or hell even the walmart brand, I do not loose any.

Hope you find your problem soon!

Try swapping the PCV valve to the newer one, I installed a Corvette Valve and a Catch can. I don't drive my car as much. But when I change my oil there's a decent sized puddle on the catch can. I'm still using the LS1 PCV system and have the LS6 waiting for an install.

changing the PCV never worked for me. i ended up upgrading my PCV to the LS6 system and added a catch can (rev extreme). the catch can doesnt get much, and my consumption is almost completely eliminated.

I guess I'll have to check out the PCV... How hard is that to change?

I think all of my LS motors do this, especially my EFI trucks, they are the worst, while my carbed LS motors are no like that, perhaps the position of the PCV on the carbed setups and having cams cause less vacuum? I just keep and eye on the levels and deal with it.

swapping just the valve is easy but if you want to do the ls6 pcv conversion once you gather all the parts you will have to remove the intake, knock sensors, valley cover, and grind part of the block off if i remember correctly... i think there is a write up on ls1howto.com ... catch cans are also good but make sure to get one that actually works... some companies will sell you an empty can... they need to have some kind of baffling material in them to separate the oil vapors... i have a saikou michi dual can on my car and it works well... expect to spend atleast around $100 or so for a good, functional catch can

You could always do the popular Home Depot catch-can route. Grab a small air compressor oil separator and some hose fitings.

I think this is what I'll do for now, seems to be pretty simple and cheap. I'm not really all for cutting the block for the LS6 PCV.
