This is a prototype lunar lander. We built most of the rocket engine out here at NASA where I work in Houston.

Some tests didn't go as planned, but some did. If any of you guys remember last year when one of the fields at NASA caught fire, this is the reason, haha.

Isnt there a former astronaut working with a company making a new type of propulsion rocket? I think it was a proton drive maybe? I remember hearing something about that, he was the first Puerto Rican NASA Astronaut.

dammit, heard they were gonna test it out in like 2013 or 2015, suppose to get ships to mars in 3 months if it works

No, sorry, but 12-15,000 people work out here, don't know all of them, haha. There are some pretty cool cars here. 73 formula 4 spd, 67ish, Califonia Special Mustang, G8 GPX, a bunch of 4th gen f-bodies and 2nd gens. Corvette heaven. Many Mustangs.

How the hell does that thing stay level with one thruster/rocket/whatever-its-called underneath it. I woulda thought it would be all over the damn place??

They were testing the rocket motor. It was burned up a couple of times and we had to rebuild it. Tethered keeps it from going into the closer neighborhoods, plus the cables that control the motor were running down the tether. They havn't got it wireless yet. Probably do a tetherless test out in the desert somewhere in New Mexico.
