I figure somebody on here may know. I need a good rear differential assembly for a GENI 1992-1995 Viper RT/10. Does anybody know where I might find one around Houston or at least within 300 miles?

Nothing in Houston.
These two places specialize in parting out wrecked Vipers, just call them. Have the parts shipped to your door.

Thanks Tony. I found out that the GENII 96-? diff was functionally interchangeable with GENI and Big Leroy's Auto Salvage on the NW side happened to have one at a normal price so we went with it. I've used some of the Viper specialists for this car a few times over the years and they are pretty good but I knew the shipping would be high and we had already waited a week for the rebuild kit only to open a diff that was not rebuild-able. It just seems in a city like ours there should be a few Vipers in a yard or two. It's crazy how fast people wreck them. Many of the parts cars have under 1K miles on them. Some people never use up the first tank of gas. This car is a older single lady's attention getter but her just turned 21 son has driven it for years without any incident so I can respect his self-control. But I think he was enjoying the aluminum flywheel I recommended based on how it drove a little too much. Perhaps he caught some air on rail road tracks or something but didn't let up on the throttle because it looks like the ring gear bolts were broke or breaking for a while and he finished them off since i put the clutch in two weeks ago. He's told me that I drive it harder than he does but that goes for just about everybody whose cars I maintain and repair. Viper's just go a lot harder than most.

It was $400, which in the same range as the Viper specialty yards like Tony mentioned. Evidently the GENII differential housing has a boss cast into it for adding an oil cooler line and the drain plug on the GENI casting is gone, other than that they are about the same.
Driveshafts were a different story, about 20" of aluminum ranged from $50 (what I paid) to $285 at one Viper yard to another. The salvage yard that sold me for $50 is 111 Salvage in Granite City IL. They also advertise as a Viper Specialist, so if your looking for something give them a shot. Their price was nicest.

If you just need a housing and will be installing a different differential along with your gears we still have this old one. I was thinking of scrapping it along with a bunch of other aluminum parts starting to pile up around the shop because I didn't think anybody would want it, esp. shipped. $50 and it's yours.

Oh, and I'm up here today installing a RHD into my wife's mail route Sunbird so if you're in the area we can do it now. Shell Rapid Lube at FM1488 and FM2978 in the Magnolia, Woodlands, Montgomery, Conroe corners.

No my car came with 3.55 which didn't work with my blower setup so I bought a rear end with factory gearing and just swapped them out so I have a spare rear end with the gears already installed. If you are going to scrap that rear end, I think it has a viper emblem stamped on it.... I would love if you could cut that off before you scrap it
