I've been building my car for awhile now and have sunk a lot of money in it. Really just stressing out and thinking about selling everything and buying a freakin built car. Anyone else ever feel like this?

Stick it out if you can. I am much more attached to the cars I built or had a hand in building.
I always get frustrated when I put a deadline on the project... Totally takes the fun out of it.

What's the project?
Done this a few times with old cars.. Sometimes too big of a project and you get burnt out.. But I rushed my last old car and wasn't happy with the end result..

I feel like there is never an actual "end" to building a car. I know as long as I have my car there will always be something different that I want to do to it. Simply because I'm never 100% satisfied with the car no matter how much I mod it. I think about selling mine all the time, just know I wouldn't get but a portion of what I put into it.

i bought my cobra built, and it was a steal, it was a 400whp 396 windsor for 5800, 90k on car and appears to have never seen snow it is immaculate underneath. anyways long story short, there were parts of the combo that were mismatched, the tune was **** and aside from WOT the car was not that much fun to drive, dont get me wrong i always had a blast because i always ran the **** out of it lol, but in the end, the first time it gave me a reason to pull it apart, (broken lifter) i parted out the drivetrain and am now putting an ly6 in it, i dont regret buying it built, because so far ive spent everyone elses money on all my swap parts, and by the time its said and done, i will have a 10 sec car for around 8k including the price of the car. usually (not always) people sell their built cars because they are giving up, therefore you will be buying someone elses headache. stick with it and do one thing at a time.

I think about it at least once a month.
Its because there's no reward for the money spent in my case. I put tons of cash into parts, and until I have them all, the car's still the same worn out LS1 that can't top 300whp. Feels like wasted money when a ~$10k car gets you 400whp right away.
Hang in there tho. That's what I keep telling myself.. it will be worth it because it will be YOUR project that YOU built, not just something you bought.

Took me 2 years, $$$$, lots of headaches searching for parts (while being stationed away from the car), and more $$$$. But the day I drove her out of the shop I was like a kid on Christmas. The feeling of completing your build is like none other, I can't wait for another!

I get in those moods where I want to just say Fk it and sell what I have and buy one already done. But always tell myself the old saying from back in my Mini Truck days... "real rides are built not bought" to me it's always a lot more fun and more enjoy the car more when you know you've put your own hard earned money and time into it. that's JMO....

I've been working on my IROC since 2005 (this will be year #7). I've had that thought several times. However when I imagine an empty garage and the wasted money (because I'll never be able to get out of it what I've put into it) I change my mind.
I agree with what others have said in posts above: if you're really tired/sick of working on it, take a break. You can always come back to it later. And trust me...sooner or later you'll want to "piddle" with something again. And when that happens, maybe that newfound interest and enthusiasm will show you something you missed before and it will make the restoration/project go a little smoother than it would have otherwise.
